We still would have sucked... Katrina was only an excuse to suck. Same coaches, same players, same results. Suck suck suck!

Without the distractions....Hard to say anywhere from 7-9 to 10-6. There was only three real blowouts. The team lacked focus especially in San Antonio where they could be found out on the town livin the life. The good one at that.

I think we would have been the same so it was probably a blessing in diguise that Katrina did happen. I'm not saying I wanted it to happen. Just think Benson and the NFL would have had plenty reason to leave New Orleans if we went 3 and 13 with bags on our heads at the end of the season.

...the one thing Katrina did is show the team's character - or lack thereof - giving them an excuse to tank the season from the git-go. Just the thought of multimillionaires whining about having to temporarily move to another state into luxury condos after a natural disaster the magnitude of Katrina is sickening.
Without Katrina, it would've been another 7-9 8-8 season at best. |

I will say with a big gulp (less major injury also), we would have been over .500 and in the hunt for a wildcard in the playoffs and possible shoot at the division title. Like NJ said we only tanked 3 games till the last 3. The end of the season was time to let the bench play more to see what the future would bring. True enough i think the front office was think at the least we will get a better draft position in 2006. Katrina compound issues all across the board for the team. Despite it all I think we learned we made the right choices at RB by committe in the off season even though the coaches bailed on the run by the second QRT each game. That left AB facing a defense that knew the N.O. coaches, wrongly , had no faith in the run. I did not see a whole alot of 8 in the box after Duce went down.
So Brooks, without Horne, knew he had to win the game and well with WR who's best stats in the NFL had to do with dropped passes, The Defenses went for making plays on the ball. The odds were they would drop it anyways. The Defense improved but the glarring need for SLB and a MLB were shown. Lack off a true #1 CB was also shown. With this I have to throw out the entire 2005 year and see it as a chance to build. But with the brain trust letting Bentley go for free is a major step backwards. |
