RE: Cap casualties for all 32 teams (possibly)
I say we cut Bellamy, Brooks, and Conwell. I don't see us cutting Mayberry, even if the 2006 savings were greater. I think he can be a very good OL for this team. I'm not sure about Bouman, it depends on if we sign a vet FA QB or not. If we do, and we draft Leinart, I think Bouman will be gone. And I personally like Fred Thomas. He might be old and what not, but I think he's a competitor and is good senior leadership for this team.

That would save us another 8.2 million and I would like some of the following Ferotte, Harrinton, Volek, Kenard Lang, Sam Adams, Jimmy Smith, Eric Moulds, Glover, Coles, Collins, Mawae, Sharper, Derrick Brooks, Griese.
But it's only a dream. Maybe they know something we don't, well except that Brooks and Bouman will be cut. |

RE: Cap casualties for all 32 teams (possibly)
All of this assumes the NFL & NFLPA sign a new Collective Bagaining Agreement similar to the one in place. If not all bets are off. The signing bonuses that could still be spread out over two years would be in effect for this year since the Salary Cap would be gone in 2007. All of those 2006 savings nubers would be wrong.

New Orleans Saints
Player,Cap number,2006 savings S Jay Bellamy$1,150,000 $650,000 - STAY QB Todd Bouman$1,443,333 $1,024,999 - AXE QB Aaron Brooks $8,483,333 $4,516,665 - TRADE TE Ernie Conwel $2,095,000 $1,255,000 - AXE (unless new contract) OL Jermane Mayberry$4,245,000 $120,000 - TRADE CB Fred Thomas $4,150,000 $1,650,000 - TRADE (unless new contract) The signing bonuses that could still be spread out over two years would be in effect for this year since the Salary Cap would be gone in 2007. All of those 2006 savings nubers would be wrong. Football will become baseball. Largest wallet can win it all. No superbowl ever for the saints if there is no cap! |

..speaking of other team's cap casualties, there's talk that Edgerrin James or Shawn Alexander could end up in the NFC South.

Edgririn i can see a change but i do not see Shawn going else where. Why would Hutchenson get the Tag at G unless thing are favorable signing Shawn to a long term contract. As so many here have pointed out a perrinnal pro bowler at G or C is simple to replace and not important or worth the $$$.
They will be in the playoffs next year and have a shoot at the superbowl with these moves and we will not. I guess time will tell. |

Keep Bellamy and Thomas. Those 2 have always produced for us. Everyone else.....should either be axed or traded.

Whodi....I can't understand you. Bellamy has done a good job for us. Unfortunately he was injured. Thomas was always getting the shaft from Haslett. When someone went down he would always come in and produce. I've seen Thomas deflect a lot of passes. How can you say I wanna ruin this team?
