WHAT WAS THE SAINTS BEST DRAFT?
With all the talk about the upcoming draft, what do you guys think was our best draft year?
I am partial to 1986. The year we got Jim Dombrowski, Dalton Hilliard, Reuben Mayes, & Pat Swilling in the first 4 rounds. |

RE: WHAT WAS THE SAINTS BEST DRAFT?
Hard to beat.
In the Haz era I think the draft of two years ago. With Smith Watson Buckwalt and Devery, may see dividends this season as well as last years. I really like Brown & Bullocks, and if A Mac and Fincher pan out I think there could be some deep talent that the new staff will turn into something. |

I think our best draft was the one where Ditka traded all of our picks for our rookie class of Ricky Williams! Oh wait no that was our WORST draft!

Hard to beat Danny A, in the 17th round.
But just on 'names' I know Id say: 1993, 1992, 1986, or1985. My best guess on a quick glance is 1986. Didn't we have a REAL football GM then?

Ignoring recent drafts, we do seem to have had some good drafts. Players, may not have ended up playing well for us, but did have decent or better carreers. The really early drafts, are before my time, so I may have overlooked some solid but not superstar caliber players.

Yeah '81 rocked, I was just a kid but my dad was pumped after that draft...Looking back it seems the Saints have a nack for spotting talent and giving it away. Marc Bulger, Bary Word, Jack Del Rio
