I also believe that even if his shoulder is good enough to throw this season, he will not be 100%. Its extremely unlikely that an injury like this is surgically repaired, rehabbed, and back to 100% in so short a time. I had a much less severe shoulder injury that required a surgical fix, so I know a little something about this. I am not a millionaire and have to work at a normal job, so my rehab and recovery are nothing like Brees'. He'll have the best doctors, the best physical therapists, and 24/7 to work on it. Even so, his injury is much more severe than mine was - so I figure its got to be close. My shoulder has NEVER recovered to 100% Thus, I have my fears and doubts about paying the kind of guaranteed money that Brees is asking for. The offer from the Chargers, which guaranteed him almost 10 million dollars IF HE TOOK 75% OF THE STARTING SNAPS THIS SEASON, is an AWESOME deal but only if he takes the snaps. This leads me to a host of questions: Brees' wants to stay in SD, or so he says. With that kind of deal, why isn't he staying? If he's so confident in his recovery and his doctor has "cleared" (haha) him to throw in May, why not take the deal? Not many QBs in this league make 10 million a year. What does DREW BREES know that we don't? Why is this deal not a good one? You know, I see this kind of thing every off season on this board. There are some fans that seem to blind themselves to reality and pretend that every move we make in FA and the draft is the right one. Year in and year out, I read the arguments about why our off-season was so great. Sometimes, I even buy into it, but any other fan that expresses any doubt gets dogged out and labeled not a "true fan", whatever the hell that means. I personally don't care whether you are one or the other, but I wish the "true fans" would stop the running the "doubters" down just because they have a different opinion than theirs. |

I dont pretend to know this is the right move...I just dont think it is an exceedingly bad one...Come on if we are going to sign a FA QB to start who whould it be? McCown, Rosenfels, Kitna...No offense but come on, I wnat to sign a winner if I am going to sign a FA qb to start...Flat out Brees is probably the best one on the market, I say probably because you never know how these things are going to turn out...
