New Orleans Saints 2006 NFC South Division Champions...Print up the freakin t-shirts
Every year the analysts look at the Saints talent and say maybe, their loaded to the gills with talent in the right spots...then they see that giant freakin retard on the sideline squirtin' water on people when they are behind by 15 points and say what the hell was I thinkin...Now they are going to see a fired up intense competitor...Fact Brees is a competitor...Look at the turn around he made after his second and third seasons ...He was challenged and he stepped, more than anything I like that about the guy...When did AB step up his game from pressure...never in a way that mattered |

Jergs, Hawk's not that fast. His fastest recorded time was 4.42 at Pro Day at Ohio State (March 9th) with most watches cathing him at 4.49. He ran a 4.51 at the combine. These are still great times for a LB, but 4.38? That's what put Vernon Davis into the top 15 (4.38/ 40 time).

The one thing that bothers me is that the Kffl.com has stated that the Saints are shopping around a trade right now to move down in the draft. Wouldn't the smart thing be to say we WILL STILL draft a QB with our pick to make teams give up more to trade up. If the Jets, Titans, or Raiders know that we WILL NOT pick a QB don't you think they are going to sit at their pick to get one of the highly touted QBs. This kills me. I do, however really love the Brees pickup. I think he will bring us to the playoffs, and put butts in the seats.

ESPNews just reported that the first year breaksdown as a 8 million signing bonus and a base salary this year of 2 million. They also stated that in the contract there is a clause for them to option out if he does not play a certain number of games because of the shoulder injury. That would really make us look smart.
Sorry no link it was just discussed on the Hot List. Here you go: Brees agrees to six-year deal with SaintsBy John Clayton ESPN.com Early in his career, there were questions about Drew Brees having a slow release. Drew Brees Quarterback San Diego Chargers Profile 2005 SEASON STATISTICS Att Comp Yds TD Int Rat 500 323 3353 24 15 89.2 That wasn't the case Tuesday when he pulled the trigger on a six-year, $60 million deal with the New Orleans Saints that included a $8 million signing bonus and a 2006 base salary of $2 million. The contract includes a $12 million option bonus due next spring and a base salary of $3 million for 2007. Brees' decision came within seconds of the Dolphins dropping out of the bidding when they traded a second-round choice for Daunte Culpepper. All along, the Saints had more money and more guarantees on the table for Brees and wanted to use his name as the marquee for ticket sales, sales that have been hot because of the Saints' return to New Orleans after Hurricane Katrina. Even though the Saints will be looking at Matt Leinart in the draft, they have Brees as their starting quarterback. That puts the Saints in the position to possible trade down from the No. 2 spot and take defensive end Mario Williams or simply take the North Carolina State defensive end. Brees comes to New Orleans with high recommendations. Cowboys coach Bill Parcells has always been a big fan of Brees and advised his former assistant, Sean Payton, to take Brees if he had the chance. Payton is the new coach of the Saints. Brees rejected the Dolphins' idea of lowering his demands for guarantees because the Saints made a promise to his agent, Tom Condon. In the end, Brees didn't budge and he ended up going to the Saints. |

That would make us look smart but that still a hell of a lot of money for Brees. Then again, I am an optomist.. I guess I'll be getting a new Jersey this year to go along with My W Smith that came 4 weeks after X-Mass
