I have to agree with SFIAH on this one. The fact that we couldn't trade Brooks really isn't much of a sign regarding his ability (or ability to start elsewhere). I too wish him all the best, so long as he isn't playing us (in which case I permit him to beat us with his eyes... a lot). That said, what is a sign of his ability was that inept/incompetent year he put up for us last year; every year before that, he was on the improve, then he went to shiznit.

um the fact that according to loomis they didn't get any calls on him being traded is in my opinion an absolute example of what the league thinks of him and then if you couple that with the fact that noone has signed him yet does matter. if he was such a commodity whyb hasn't anyone looked to him as a starter. i don't think t.o. is arguable at this time because the nfl knew he was going to be released. i would say the same about arron but i wouldn't say it was known at first. either way i don't see him being discussed in the same way as brees or even pepper. that is my opinion but that doesn't mean i think you are wrong saints or kool because truthfully you can't say that that is an absolute judgment of talent. it depends on other factors. so i guess really i agree with you guys but not in the brooks case

Brooks is gone and someone needs to let it go. I don't care who he plays for if he played like he did the last few years for us I would love to play against him every Sunday. He can throw backwards ya know. What skills.

GoldRush, I suppose I'll agree to a certain extent. It is arguable that there were areas of improvement post 2003, but not leaps and bounds. However, I'm not all that interested in defending the claim; it seems we agree in principal his on field play is sufficient to display why we don't want to keep him any longer.
spk, gotcha. In general, trade offers and related measures of ability rely heavily on factors other that a players ability (as you note). As a point of note, Edge and Alexander barely got a snif in FA last year, and those are clearly quality players. Take into account Brooks salary, and it isn't hard to see why no one would make an offer. I guess, I just don't see a need to make an exception for Brooks - the no trade offers are a dubious measure of his inability, especially compared to his inability on the field last year. |

Goldrush, you brought up some really good facts, stats that I enjoyed reading, but fatz still doesn't understand any of it, he's hopeless and a joker, I can't believe I went back and forth with him earlier today, makes me think I have nothing better to do on a Saturday afternoon.
He's noway a Saints fan, he's a guy who loves to push other people's button, that's all this guy is about, period. Again, good stuff today Goldrush, hell, you tried your best. Wasn't he banned ? |

How about using his IP address to ban him for good?
