Retirement... nah... never...
On the subject of OLines and QBs, obviously they're related. As with most things in football, only the truly greats can get by without a good deal of support from the trenches. I suppose, that is a simple truism; my point is that we'd have to dig a bit deeper to say much about the relation between Olines and QBs than has been done here. Perhaps a new thread? I'd be interested in the results of such a discussion. On the subject of coaching and Olines, of course coaching matters. Just look at Denver's track record. Take any old guy and slot him in there, there is some success. Does this mean that it is all schemes and coaching? That is too simple a hypothesis. Again, it plays a critical role, but how critical? O-Linement are ranked in the draft based on how well they can play, so, I infer, there must be more to it than mere coaching. On the subject of top notch enforcers, I say "YAY". Cheers, J. |
Actually....we may never forget Brooks. Really lets face it......whenever the subject of post-season success comes into play....Brooks will always be there. As much as you hate him...he is a part of our history now.

C'mon whodi. Lets be real. Picture this....
Trivial Pursiuit....Saints edition.....question....Who was the Saints QB the night of their first post-season victory? Answer.... I'm not defending the guy Whodi but lets face it.....he has definitely etched his name into the franchise whether you like it or not. |

As far as his name being etched in anything, I have this wonderful ability to block out whatever I don't wanna see, and the last 6 years have definitely been a blur. So, Aaron who? If I ever got that question in Trivial Pursuit, i'd pass and go play dominoes. |
LOL....you are adamant and I can't change that. I wonder what the hell do you when you watch replays of the Rams game anyway?.... :computer:

You know....these next words are going to be the most painful words I have ever said to you but.....
I feel ya. I hear you loud and clear. :bnb: Wow...that was tough. LOLOL. |
I like to remember a much different name when thinking of the Playoff win.... Brian Milne.

All this Brooks bashing has made completely forget about Jonnie Poe.... wait... thanks for making me remember that.

RE: Re: RE: FO? WTF?
[b]How in the world is Drew Brees a bust? Apparently you haven't heard of "Cryin' Ryan" Leaf :saintsfan:

RE: Re: RE: FO? WTF?
Wow you guys are stubborn. We develop a 31-3 lead and all you can remember is Milne?!? Tough crowd! LOLOL. Well regardless....he's a Raider now and good luck to him. Now I think the Fo needs to get on their asses and find us some really good OL.

What more does the guy have to do to impress you? HATER!!!! :biggun: lol |
RE: Re: RE: Re: RE: FO? WTF?
BMG? Where in my post do you see an attack on Milne? LOLOL. All I said was you can't forget his performance that night. We DID have a 31-3 lead before the Rams started creeping back until Milne saved the night. But it seems BMG that you have swayed by the ways of the dark side. We fight to the death old friend. It's a shame things have to end like this. (Begin dramatic battle music...and ACTION!!!!!) :lightsabres:

Jeebs, I totally couldn't resist ripping off the Best. Post. Ever. that you made the other day.
I'm sure I'll be ripping it off for quite some time. It's probably the funniest thing I've ever read on this board. Still makes me laugh when I think about it. :notworthy: |
RE: Re: RE: Re: RE: FO? WTF?
The real guy that won the game. He played as good of a game and put us in a position to win. Too bad the defense couldn't stop anybody. If it wasn't for a fumble, some of you guys would have blamed this loss on Brooks too when it was Venturi's fault that the game was even close.
http://espn-att.starwave.com/media/n..._brooks_vt.jpg Thanks Aaron... good luck. Go Raiders!!!! |

RE: Re: RE: Re: RE: FO? WTF?
Lets face it....people on these forums know that I defended Brooks. But it is also damaging to a team's psyche and a city's as well when there is animosity and discontent. He wasn't happy...and the city was not happy with him. Making quotes like " I'm an excellent QB on an average team." is not cool either. It simply is an issue of "time to move on"-itis. (I know that makes sense I don't care what you say!!) I won't go as far as go Raiders but I'll say that I hope he has abetter time in Oakland. Unless he plays us of course....then its an issue of... :rocket:

RE: Re: RE: Re: RE: FO? WTF?
BMG you are correct again... but we should have not been in a position like that...
The real reason Brian even had a chance to win the game.... http://www.neworleanssaints.com/phot...nturi_Rick.jpg Believe it or not... he more than anybody is the reason we lost so many games. FACT! |
RE: Re: RE: Re: RE: FO? WTF?
now that's funny.........Venturi the Confused.
|
RE: Re: RE: Re: RE: FO? WTF?
Gandhi.... What's wrong with wishing Brooks well???? Are you questioning my Saints fan hood?
Look I blame Venturi more than Brooks for most of our losses. In fact, Brooks won a lot of games in spite of having the worst defense in the league. If you blame Brooks for all the losses and boneheadded plays, you need to stop hanging out with Ricky Williams. http://www.dvdbeaver.com/film/DVDCom...fer2/post1.jpg |
RE: Re: RE: Re: RE: FO? WTF?
fanforever... next time you blame someone, make sure it's the right guy. Venturi was the DB's coach in 2000. If you want to blame a coach for not making halftime adjustments shouldn't it be Haslett?
|
Re: RE: Re: RE: Re: RE: FO? WTF?

As for bonehead plays: I can definately attribute at least 85% of those to Brooks! :? |
RE: Re: RE: Re: RE: FO? WTF?
Well BJS, they passed for something like 500+ yards in that game so Venturi is still to blame... but I agree... Haz deserves a lot of the blame... Hell.... we should be giving the Rams credit for a great game.
|
RE: Re: RE: Re: RE: FO? WTF?
Right Gandhi... many times the offense was so behind at the half that Brooks would have to try to win the game single handedly which lead to the defense teeing off on him and forcing stupid errors which Brooks unfortunally excelled at.

Everyone's got it wrong! The one for single-handedly handing us that game was none other than......that's right.....AZ-AHIR HAKIM !!!!!
