this is a discussion within the Saints Community Forum; Eagles | McMahon released Mon, 20 Mar 2006 11:16:56 -0800 The Philadelphia Eagles have announced the release of QB Mike McMahon. Might be worth picking up as a replacement for Bouman. Payton should be able to do something with him ...

FA quarterback--McMahon
I've always liked the guy and felt like he's never been put in a situation to succeed. |

RE: FA quarterback--McMahon
Great idea BMG, I was just about to post this. I always liked him, especially when he was in Detroit. I always liked seeing him go in if Harrington got hurt or pulled or something. He's fast, smart, and has a decent arm. I wouldn't mind seeing him as our backup instead of Bouman.

Brees, McPherson and McMahon would be a nice combo, once thing is for sure, Bouman has to get packing, I feel McPherson will make a good QB one day soon, as said, he needs reps and lots of them to help him to develop as a QB in the NFL.

Seems like every Eagle game I watched last year, he was throwing INTs, which were in turn being run back for TDs. I liked him too, last year, b4 the Eagles signed him. He's "spunky", "leader", "fighter", ect, is what I said. He is definitely not much of an upgrade over Bouman.

Sure he is, he had a bad year with the Eagles in a new scheme with ABSOLUTELY NO TARGETS to throw to. He came in after T.O. was gone, and the team as a whole was at an all-time low in morale. I think his play with Detroit shows that he is a good QB.

I'd rather see us pick up Joey Harrington as a backup.

I say we loose Bouman, and sign Mike and then let him and AMAC fight it out for the #2 spot.

TheDeuce, it's interesting that you can use the low morale and no talent around him excuse for McMahon. The Saints lose Deuce, Horn's on/off injured, and oh yeah they didn't play a home game all year. But you can't use those excuses for Bouman? It makes no sense, either a player can or can't use the surrounding circumstances or not. Don't say it's OK for one and not for another.
