Saints take Sullivan with 6th pick in Trade
Trufant > Sullivan.
But you know what, this was not a disaster. We moved up and managed to take one of the few impact players that were in this draft. Could we have addressed every position on defense had we not moved, yup. Were they going to address every position that each individual fan thought they should, nope. I have already explained my position as to why DT was not as important to me as other positions.
We have three very good players, but we made poor movement. I will give us a C+ for this draft, thusfar. We have an impact player on our defensive line and a future starting tackle for our offfense. The plus is from Cie, who was one of my sleepers. He loves working and he loves the game of football, and is a great athlete with tremedous upside. He played CB for the National Champions last year, yet he enters the draft as a LB. Can never have too many winners on a team. |
The waiting drove me mad....
I don't want to hear from those that know... Everything has changed, absolutely nothing's changed Eddie is a....draftnik? |

Then they go into the off-season and sign a LB, a CB, a safety. But no DT. Add to that my personal opinion that Hand will be gone due to cap reasons. Okay, you can always hope Jackson gets back into shape (and I still do) and whoever comes in from the practice squad will make an immediate impact. Or you can hope you\'ll get someone after June 1st or maybe Chester McGlockton. Realistically though you\'ll address that need in the draft. There are 2 things that make it speculative: How do you rate our CBs, especially Carter and Ambrose? I\'d say they are league average. It looks differently if you say they are close to the bottom. Second thing is the cutting of Hand. Even if he has a decent season, do you think he is worth the money he\'s about to be paid for the 2003 season. Someone help me out here, but isn\'t it close to 5 million US dollars? Hearing nothing about trying to restructure that deal is a strong indicator for me they\'ll not keep him around. |

I agree B&B... Sullivan is a good DT... a position that we needed MOST, followed closely by LB, then CB. I am most upset about HOW we used our picks. Staying put at 17 and 18 could have netted us Joseph and Bailey or Henderson or Woolfolk... in the second, Henderson, Mathis, Doss, in the third James...
Even if you keep an OT in there in round two we could have gone Joseph, Bailey (or a CB), Stinky, James. That\'s a better VALUE. |
