a big if. i am supposing your thought is that the top 3 would be bush, leinart, and young or cutler (tenn. boy). i do not discount the possibility that tenn would take brick. but assuming it is bush, qb, and qb...
my plan A would be to try a trade down again. at this point value/rating wise most would have the board pegged as Brick Mario Hawk a trade down to 5-6 playing the pack and niners like the titans-jets deal would score one of those. ideally, pick up another 2nd rd and get Hawk at #6. a bigger compensation would have to be put together to go down further. if the price paid was enough i would still go down and be happy with Ngata, Vernon Davis, or Huff in the #7-9 range. plan B and taking the #4 pick i have to go Brick. He is a level up from the past few top tackles including Jammal Brown, Robert Gallery, and Jordan Gross. We are talking Jones-Ogden looking. One of the best positions to forsee future success at also. Bookends set. One or both OTs could be All-Pro in a couple of years and score a king's ransom in trade. #29 is way to hard to speculate to a single player. There could be a notable dropper like Deuce or Smith that could not be passed up. With Brick taken and players that currently project late first/early second, I would be well satisfied with Mangold, Demeco Ryans, Greenway, maybe Ernie Sims, Cromartie, Youboty, etc.. Those positions not filled at #29 i would take at #34 unless there was some other ridiculous BPA that ya couldn't pass on. |

I Love all of the trade down talk, You know a few weeks ago the trade down talk was shot down as quick as it was posted, but with the probability of no Leinart alot of minds have changed. I would love to get Hawk but somehow I think we are going to trade out with the Jets and or the Broncos to get another first rounder. So we can get OT, LB and Center with the first three picks.

Brick would be great- HOWEVER- If we move down and pick up additional picks, there are several other quality left tackles available. (See Jared 's current commentary). Also there has been talk of movinglast years #1 to left tackle. this could be the plan and then put Stincomb or a draftee on the right side. I think this new staff and Gary gibbs, in particular is a much better talent evaluator that Venturi and Haslett.

i like the idea of getting d'brickashaw and mangold, but it's highly unlikely.... i would rather see a.j. hawk and mangold and getting whitworth or trueblood in the second.... all of the players mentioned are great players and would vastly improve our team... we definitely need a playmaker/gamechanger on both sides of the ball this draft and we're in a position to do that... let's hope the FO doesn't fumble this one...
