Lots of teams are getting better...
In our division alone, the Falcons have made some major moves on the defensive side of the ball. They are projected to get Santana Moss' little brother in the draft too. The Panthers are also primed to get better. If they got a Keyshawn Johnson which will certainly help Steve Smith...like he needed any help. The Bucs are going to be an improved team as well. I stil think they're a little suspect at QB but they proved last year they can work around Simms' shortcomings. The Redskins are making a killing...they should win the East with a little bit of a struggle from Dallas and Philly. Seattle is the odds on favorite to repeat their NFC championship with the additions they've made...Peterson is certainly going to help them a lot.
So can we make the moves we need to at least be competitive? Are going to make them? If so, what do you think needs to be done between now and the draft? |

RE: Lots of teams are getting better...
We need another CB to play with MM but we are not making any moves to try and get one. I see that as being one of our major needs on defense. We have to pick up a veteran DB before the draft and we still should draft a young corner to play behind Mike

CB has to be an area of interest that they're either looking at now via FA or early in the draft. I know a lot of people on the boards there in N.O. weren't high on Fahkir Brown...trust me he will be sorely missed this year if a move isn't made now or early in the draft. I don't think Freddie Brown or Jason Craft can man the position full time. I do believe both of them are capable dime or nickel backs.

We got better ourselves. New coaching staff, new quarterback, new linebacker, depth signing on the offensive line, and retaining players of our own who we felt could contribute. We still need to sign a quality corner to compete with Fred for the spot opposite Mike, but we've done our fair share of signings. We might not have signed those "name" players besides Brees, but we've done a good job so far IMO.
With the rest of free agency and the draft, we need to target a center, corner, and some more O-Line help. If Sullivan becomes consistent, he would solve our problem at DT. Young, Sullivan, Bryant, Woodard, and Leisle could be a good rotation. |

We're doing alright, I'm happy with the moves we made so far..
On Steve Smith, he does need help, one reason they lost the playoff game is they really had only one WR to go to, as mush as I hate to say this being I'm not a big Keyshawn or Panther fan I think they will improve in their passing game, Smith alone isn't enough at times, but Keyshawn might come back to hunt John Fox, if so I won't be surprised. |

I gots to say , I think we've gotten better too...def. better moves than TB (thank gawd), and I think ATL can burn in...well, you know....but Abraham was not worth that much money....Carolina, well they were going to be hard to beat altogether.
I thought we weren't doing enough in FA myself, but I actually think the FO did a decent thing in not jumping just to jump. I wanted Witherspoon too, but not at that price. Hell, dropping Hazlett and Verturi was enough to make me optimistic! If we can get Brick, a LB (Demeco Ryans, please) and a good rest to give depth, we are groovy |

Thanks ya'll. Good to be here...I love this site (even the times when AB posts under that fake name...who knew he could type!) Having a joint like this to vent on is good for folks like us. Soon STL wll start to know what we went thru(...nice job signing Brown to a 5-year deal...at least they will have someone to confirm, first-hand, that an opponent caught the touchdown.)
This is the most definately the best site out there! trust me, I've looked....sure sometimes I searched for the wrong site name (who knew Jenna Jameson had nothing to do with Saints websites!!), but we all come home eventually, right! |
