I woke up draft day and..........

With the 1st pick in the 2006 NFL draft the Houston Texans select DE North Carolina State Mario Williams...........................

There is a trade: The New York Jets trade their fourth, 29th, and 35th overall picks for the Saints number 2 pick......................

With the 2nd pick in the draft the New York Jets select RB University of Southern California Reggie Bush.........................

With the 3rd pick in the 2006 NFL draft the Tennessee Titans select QB University of Texas Vince Young.......................................

There is another trade: The Denver Broncos trade their 15th, 22nd, and 61st overall picks and a 1st round pick in 2007 for the Saints 4th overall pick...................

With the 4th overall selection in the 2006 NFL draft the Denver Broncos select QB University of Southern California Matt Leinart...........................

Skipping to the goods...............................................

With the 15th selection in the 2006 NFL draft the New Orleans Saints select OLB Florida State University Ernie Sims...................................

With the 22nd selection in the 2006 NFL draft the Saints select RB Mempis University DeAngelo Williams................................................

With the 29th overall selection in the 2006 NFL draft the Saints select C Ohio State University Nick Mangold...............................

On to the 2nd round.............................

With the 34th selection the Saints select CB University of South Carolina Johnathon Joseph..........................................

With the 35th overall selection the Saints select OT Louisiana State University Andrew Witworth.............................................

Ernie Sims is not the right choice. He's more of a 3-4 LB, and he's also going to be strictly an OUTside linebacker. I would rather take a guy who has the ability to play on the inside (a la Hawk or D'Qwell).

DeAngelo Williams? Why would we do that? Why would we do that when there might be a guy like Winston Justice or Tye Hill or Jimmy Williams available at this spot; guys who all play positions of need. Also, not only is Deuce supposed to be ready for the season, but we also signed Bennett. Taking Williams makes no sense.

Love the Mangold pick. We have to get this guy, and it looks like we're going to have a real good chance at landing him now that the Jets landed Teague.

I doubt Joseph will be there at the 34th pick. If he is, that'd be a very good pickup. However, I'd like to see us take Wroten or D'Qwell Jackson or Eric Winston here.

Whitworth seems like a bit of a stretch here. Are you a Tiger fan? I am, but he's not nearly athletic enough to be taken here.

Love love love the Bullocks pick. That'd be awesome to see those two sharing our secondary. They have good chemistry because they've played together a lot, and it'd also be a good marketing tool for the team.

Kind of hard to be competitive when you have roughly 13 draft picks on your team. Sounds nice, but very tough.

Deuce - Sims MAY not be the right choice, Carpenter may be better, but I just love Sims' ability to tackle, and we REALLY need a tackler.........Williams would give us a decent return man, and I have to disagree with Winston Justice being their. His stock is WAY up after his pro day........I believe with the depth at Corner in the draft that Joseph will be their.......Yes I am a tiger fan and I believe that Whitworth would be a perfect fit here. My problem with calling this a stretch is that there won't be any other talented OTs left at that pick and he would be snatched before pick 61, so its not a stretch to get a great Tackle in the second round.............But like I've said before I would throw all these picks away for Ferguson and Mangold. I think we would have the most solid line in the NFL.

With two rookies starting on it... I think it's wishful thinking. Wouldn't be even in the top 10 rated for OL.

I have to agree with this, but since we're playing the wishing game: You could skip Sims at #15 & get Winston Justice instead. Then you could snag Bobby Carpenter with #22. He will probably be a better NFL LB than Sims anyway. Then, you could pick Joseph Addai at #35 if you really want a RB. He's faster & stronger than DeAngelo. :D

if bush is there at #2 then i think we should be asking for more from the jets then the 2 1s n a 2... him being available at 2 makes our pick that much more valuable
