Possible 3 team trade in the top 7 of nfl draft
This has been a hot topic on forums for Saints, Jets, Titans and Raiders fans. I saw this on the Jets forum and on saintsreport. This guy Bongo59 is supposed to be a reliable source according to the websites I looked at. Apparently there is a 3 team trade in the works where we would trade down to 4 with the Jets, the Jets would trade down to 7 with the Raiders, and the Raiders would trade up to 2. The concept of the trade makes sense but the compensations do not. In the end, we end up getting pick 103 for trading down to 4 (according to the Jets site) while the Jets get a 2nd and 3rd rounder. This part has to be bogus or else we would be the laughing stock of the leauge, I'm sure we would get more than the 103 pick. The concept of the trade, however, makes sense because I believe the Raiders really want Leinart and he'll be there at 2, we would get Mario according to Bongo (but I want Hawk at 4) and the Jets would get Brick. Seems like if all teams can agree on equal compensation it would be a good trade. Anyways, I thought you guys would be interested in a possible trade down scenario being talked about right now on some other sites.

Nothing this francise does will surprise me. We are almost always on the short end of a deal. We may just swap with Oakland in exchange for a couple of magic beans.

There may very well be a 3-team trade during the draft, but if the Saints had a lick of sense, they would make sure whoever they deal with bets the farm. This Bongo guy must have seen past drafts of the Saints and figured they would be patsies to accept an offer like that. I guess he doesn't realize that New Orleans is in the driver's seat with the #2 pick and not the Jets or Raiders. Honestly, I don't see D'Brickashaw still on the board at #7.

Compensation for us doesn't make any sense... this rumor equals poop. The Jets are taking a big risk themselves with the assumption Brick will fall out of the top 5 down to 7.

RE: Possible 3 team trade in the top 7 of nfl draft
The Jets forum where all the info is, the thread is like 700 posts (the most the website's ever had) so I didn't look through the whole thing, just browsed. However, what I got from it was that the guy who posted this trade possibility did not come up with the extra picks the Saints and Jets would get. Those picks were done by Jets fans who conveniently gave us a 3-4th round pick for trading down, while giving themselves a 2nd and 3rd. I think I saw somewhere we'd get oak 1st rounder next year. Jets fans validated us only getting a 3-4th round pick by saying we'll still get the guy we want only we won't have to pay as much for him, and this is compensation. That had me LMAO. I don't know, too many posts on the website to go through it all. But it is still intriguing if we get good compensation. I get the feeling that regardless of who we want to trade with or where we want to trade down to, we have to take Leinart, then trade down, like what SD did with Eli.

I am draft geeky enough that I read through the thread. The guy is also on a Titans board. Discount what the fans are saying and just read his posts. He has cred from other board members as to his connections and previous breaking of news. As stated, it is a totally fluid situation. I just like hearing of other teams having the hots to move up and our FO is at least talking, negotiating, doing something. Leinart in Oakland doesn't sound bad. He could learn from the master ball handler there.
