Not the response i was looking for..especially from you whodi...i was hoping for a "Don't worry, Payton knows what he wants...he is confident he can make the offense work under his system and he wants to give Gary Gibbs all he needs to make the defense work. Its going to be fine."

But you went the other route. I guess i will just go back to trying to convince myself.

For a guy fighting the 20 something years of Saints drafts I have in my own mind, I am barely holding on. Sorry bro, unless some else has out the pom poms, you're on your own. I am not gonna let anything ruin my high about this draft. We'll see if Saturday keeps it a high.

it cannot be ignored when you have a talent like Hawk available for the taking
But it can be if you can get the better player (Chad Greenway) by trading down.... #2 is TOO high.

I am going to hold out hope that this is going to be a good day for the Saints. I have my friends coming over...we got the beer and the food for a day of celebration...it is going to be a doozie...we get our choice of anybody we want except for Reggie Bush...kind of hard to mess that up.

Hmmm...I just watch some clips of Hawk taking down Vince Young...the elusive Vince Young. How could we not want this dude?

Nice posts, guys. I don't care if we take Hawk at #2 or #4 or wherever, as long as we get him. He will be a playmaker for this defense for years to come. I know some people will say that #2 is too high for a LB & that we'll have to pay too much at that spot, but I think he'll be worth every penny he makes as a pro.

-Feel free wheelman & goldrush to chime in at any minute to tell us how that's too much to spend on a LB & how good LB's are a dime a dozen nowadays in the NFL. LOL

IMHO, the majority of the "elite" heading into the draft are deserving of a #2 pick overall, but that's just me. Having said that, I'd only be content if we drafted Hawk, Ferguson, Bush, Leinart, or Cutler at that position. And I'm with you, ghandi. If linebackers in the NFL are a dime a dozen nowadays, then why haven't the Saints linebacking corps had someone with a good season since Charlie Cleamons?

I never said anything about paying too much money. I would have loved it if we signed Arrington, no matter the contract. He just flat did not want to play for our franchise, even if we had offered the money. And I don't buy the argument that we never contacted him. I'm sure every team that could afford him made an inquiry about his services.

That being said, take Hawk where ever you can get him. Talents like him only come along every few years.
