I think adding Hawk and sitting Bockwoldt is a HUGE improvement for the Saints. I dont think there is another team in the league that Bockwoldt would start for. We have had the worst LB corp in the league for years and it cannot be ignored when you have a talent like Hawk available for the taking.

I think we need to draft hawk but not to replace Colby we need to draft him to play on the other side of Colby. Colby was our best linebacker last year he had 90+ tackles besides he is always around the play he works hard. Also he was a round 7 pick who became our starter and if we are going to draft hawk why not replace a line backer who is not getting it done (WATSON)

I disagree with you here. Yes, he had the most tackles on the team, but that wasn't because he was the best linebacker. He was the only guy who could stay healthy for the whole season, so I guess that says something. But, if Watson and Allen would have been healthy, Bockwoldt never would have seen the field. Nor should he this year. He takes bad angles, misses way too many tackles, and IMO, only gets all of this praise because he's a 7th round pick. People see him as a good story. But in reality, he's just not very good. I think right now, with Watson and James Allen healthy, Bockwoldt is our fifth best linebacker. If we don't draft Hawk and Simmons has to play in the middle, then I think we'll see Fujita and Allen/Watson on the outside. I've said this a million times: Bockwoldt is a good story, but he wouldn't start on any other team in the league.

First Colby is replacing Watson. Do not give up on Watson just yet he has trade value. He is better of at WLB he is learning the MLB.
Second Haz never could help but play LB out of the natural position. We are loaded at WLB backups.
Third in a 34 he is the inside weak LB. In the 43 he is better suited for the WLB position. He can play MLB but it is not his stronge suite. Back up at SLB is needed also.
I am all for throwing that stupid $ value chart governed by position out of the window and take him at 2. I would perfer to trade down a bit to get a 3 but if not take him anyways.
With this draft being the year of the LB I say use #32 trade down a bit and get Hodge. Then Offense with rest of the way with a DT. Some good DT back ups with size (6-4 6-5) can be had in the 5,6 or even the 7th.

Thanks for backing me up on that one...i think we tend to fool ourselves into thinking that some of our players are better than they really are. Colby is the prime example of that. He is a great story, but fact of the matter is...he is starting for the weakest group of LB's in the league and i dont think he would even make any other team's final 53 man roster. I know you all would blast me for it...but i tend to want to put Zach Hilton in the same category...but i will give him one more shot.

saintswhodi 04-25-2006 10:50 PM

Don't you diss Zach!!!!

But I agree on Colby. Anywhere else, he's special teams only all the way.

I respect your opinions but i disagree I think colby is a good LB. As far as the other LB not staying healthy that does not say much because he was starting ahead of them when they were healthy. However we need to draft Hawk even if he does take Colby's job we need the best players on the field whoever they are.

I respect all of your opinions, but with the new coaching staff they will put the best 3 or 4 LB out there. Be it Colby, watson whoever. hey that's the best thing about a new staff.

I think that respecting everybodies opinions is very respectable and I respect that. :jester:

saintswhodi 04-26-2006 09:42 AM

Respecting opinions is for wussies.
