I just don't think it would make sense from a finacial stand-point.

As big an advocate of Matt Leinart as I am, I hope we do not make that pick. Hawk, even at #2, is the best choice for us now that we have Drew Brees.

right. why am I going to write off brees now when he hasn't even played a game for us? by saying "we may as well draft Leinart" youdo that. What happens if Brees kicks ass next year? Then we have to let him go? we keep him at 12 mil in bonus money on top of Leinart's huge (and it will be) bonus?
We have a chance to pick up someone that can be the same thing at a different posiiton for us that we got Brees for...a difference maker. At number 2 we either take Hawk or Brick...that's my final two |

If we are talking about drafting for needs... For the 4th straight year, CB then LB. If you are drafting for "the best player on the board." It has to be Leinart. I mean the guy was a definite No. 1 overall pick last year, and all he did this year is take his team back to the national title game. Which he didn't lose for them.

I'd take Cutler at 2 at this point. Unless we can trade back. Better athleate and less fragile a QB than Leinart. No way shape or form should this team take the UC QB.

That's a horrible idea. What in the world brought this on.

I've actually whatched him play on a few occasions and thus have determined by forming my own opinion haveing see the other play on many an occasion, since USC was the cream of the crop in college ball that Leinart is more of a Ken Dorsey with less of and arm then any of the top 5 QB's in this draft. I see nothing wrong with Hawk at 2 either but if the team goes QB then Cutler over Leinart, Leinart's has peaked.

Upside? I can see that. I think he'll be good in a few years. But by no means would I go that way.
