Honestly though...of all the names we've heard mentioned about trades, his isn't one of them. I know it may be due to his contract, but maybe the new leadership sees something and is willing to give it a shot with him. Picking up Thomas really does help in the DT area, just in case. |

Sullivan was not drafted to be a 2 gap run stopping tackle. He was picked because of his pass rushing ability, which is negated by playing over the center. He hasn't played alongside a proper counterpart at the position since we had Grady Jackson, who was released after the two had only played together for one season.

In todays Times-Pic Payton said we're not moving any of the safety's to corner.
I like Dwight Smith. I will not like seeing him in another uniform this season. |

I hear ya Jeremy...dude can play, but I guess all the reports of us really souring on him were true.
If that be the case, I hope we get something good for the guy...b/c he played real well for us last year. |

I don't understand why so much attention is being paid to safety when DT and ILB have been our main problems for years. So we take a DT in a trade that's on his last leg and we ignore the LB position totally. Blows my mind. |

That's what confuses me J... I think itwas youthat brought up our 14 th ranked D...that was mostly b/c of our secondary play...we couldn't stop the run to save our lives.
I guess he struck a bad chord with Payton,or just seemed the wrong sort behind the scenes. Maybe its to make a point, but he was basically one of, if not was, our best FA pick up of recent memory. |

No, that wasn't me about our D. Teams didn't have to throw on us last year cuase they could just run up the middle on us, and also weren't having to pass to play catch up.
Smith is probably the best FA signing since Joe Horn. |
