Saints Basher in DeRidder writes for Beauregard Daily News

Want a Good Laugh?

Editor William C. Wadsack, of the Beauregard Daily News, has declared the Saints losers. What is so funny about this article is a small paragraph towards the end of the article which reads:

"A lot of people like present Saints' quarterback Aaron Brooks, and while he's not bad, he's not good enough to turn the franchise around. And he's certainly not good enough to win New Orleans a Super Bowl - with or without Bush."

Wow! It amazes me how someone can give such a staunch opinion about the Saints based on QB Aaron Brooks, who now plays for the Oakland Raiders, ability to be "not bad" but not good enough to turn things around in the Big Easy...er...Oakland.

Please send him your comments!

OK, so I read the article, and I sent him a letter to let him know how off he was, and he posted this new article on the Saints.

Way Over The Line

By WILLIAM C. WADSACK
Editor

Brees won't make the Saints good

Yes, I will admit that I made a mistake with my last bit of “wisdom - Aaron Brooks is no longer a quarterback for the New Orleans Saints.

I remember hearing that Aaron Brooks had signed with the Raiders and that New Orleans had signed Drew Brees, but in my excitement to bash Reggie Bush, I completely forgot about it.

The roster I was looking at while writing the column was from last season when Brooks was still on the team so that's why it never even entered my mind.

But that's the only mistake I made. And I could have easily inserted Brees' name for Brooks' and left everything else the same.

I'm going to feel so sorry for all the disgruntled Saints' fans who keep sending me hatemail when Brees crashes and burns like Ricky Williams' career.

I can only imagine the ridicule Saints' fans must go through on any given Sunday.

To be given that little sliver of hope the Saints are so good at providing before their inevitable complete collapse must really wear on people's minds.

That's the only reason I can think of for their complete inability to grasp my column.

Several people completely missed my implication that Deuce McAllister had an injury-plagued 2005 season because he's a member of the New Orleans Saints and nothing ever goes right for the Saints.

In fact, if there's some way to really screw a situation up, Saints players will usually find it - that's why I said I wouldn't rule out possible jail time for Reggie Bush in his family-housing controversy.

I know my statement that the Saints are cursed and my comparison to the Boston Red Sox was confusing for some since Boston recently won a world series and have lately been a perennial playoff contender. But I thought saying that since the Saints are “nowhere near as popular as the Sox, their curse will never be broken was clear.

I guess I was wrong, so I'll make it clearer: The Saints will never win the Super Bowl.

Finally I had a boatload of people explain LeBron James' stats to me because I said I'd “correctly predicted that LeBron James was too young to go straight into the NBA and make an impact.

That was self-deprecating sarcasm because I actually wrote a column several years ago about how LeBron James was too young to go straight into the NBA and make an impact.

Obviously, I was wrong about that and I was saying I could be wrong about Reggie Bush - though I'm not.

When these people repeatedly explained James' impact on the NBA to me, I couldn't help but wonder: “What kind of idiot do they think I am that I really don't think LeBron James has established himself as a superstar?

I'm guessing they thought I was the kind of idiot who would refer to Aaron Brooks as the Saints' present quarterback even through he'd left months ago.

But really, who has time to pay attention to the lowly Saints when my beloved New York Jets are gearing up for their Super Bowl run.

*********************************************************

That prompted me to send him the following letter.

AHA, and now the true reason for your deprecating ... or is it defecating nature. You are jets fan. A fan of the team that tried to decapitate Aaron Brooks before Kyle Turley answered back loud and clear with what is one of the most satifying moments in Saints history. You were silently wishing and praying that the Saints would give the jets the 2nd round pick, with which they would of undoubtedly picked Reggie Bush. That would of made you as happy as a pig in crap. But no, the Saints were not about to make that mistake and it infuriated you. You are a miserable being that is forced to live in the state that you think stole Reggie Bush from his rightful place in New York. The fact that you are a New Yorker only further explains your miserable nature, your arrogance, and the wishful thinking that you are right on anything. What trash you spew forth. It is so bad that it is actually amusing. You are a good writer, I give you that, but a complete dunce when it comes to knowing what to say or when to say it. What a waste of literary ability. I must only assume then that you were forced to live in Louisiana, since you appear to be hating life's every sinew, and probably awaken daily with nightmares of the Jets picking Reggie Bush only to realize after your morning cup of coffee that it was but a dream and that the New Orleans Saints, yes ... that team that squashed your dreams got him instead. I now understand your hatred, and your ignorance.

With a name like Wadsack...

... I do find it funny that a Jets fan would write something like that... guess that one moment in time 30 some years ago...

LKelley67 05-06-2006 06:48 PM

sheesh, almost as bad as that Alexandria article. At least it is just DeRidder LOL. Cheap writing like that deserves a letter to their boss. The paper loses credibility from such jerkoffs.

LSUJeremy 05-06-2006 06:48 PM

Am I a bad person because reading things like that cause me to have homicidal feelings towards the author?

NOSaints 05-06-2006 06:54 PM

LMAO, No Jeremy, I felt the same way. Just exercise your option to write in to the paper. I guarantee you will feel better after doing so. The sad thing is that I think this guy IS the paper. It might be an online only rag. I wonder if anyone in DeRidder even knows about this guy. Oh Well, after his article gets around, he will be known if only because his mailbox keeps getting hit with wooden objects.

LivnaLieTimay 05-06-2006 07:14 PM

Clearly this guy Wadsack is an idiot. However, your comment about New Yorkers; "The fact that you are a New Yorker only further explains your miserable nature, your arrogance, and the wishful thinking that you are right on anything." puts you right there with him NOSaints. Anyways, Wadsack should check his history because the Jets haven't been winning many championships themselves recently, they've only won one superbowl in 40 years and that was 37 years ago.

Yes.

Anyway, the question that comes to my mind is why in the world would someone who obviously does not follow the team choose to write an article about the team. If he only vaguely remembers hearing about Brooks leaving then he's only catching like 5% of what he needs to be catching in order to do his piece any justice.

I'm sure the journalists who I know frequent this board must find this wholly unacceptable on a professional level.

Otherwise, it makes me very happy when professional writers make these kind of mistakes. The common public rarely gets the chance to abuse them as they tend to abuse us common folk.

Halo 05-06-2006 07:34 PM

Do you guys want me to write him an official rebuttal or "letter to the editor" from blackandgold.net? It would be interesting to see what he would say.

pakowitz 05-06-2006 07:37 PM

yes

Tobias-Reiper 05-06-2006 07:37 PM

YEP!!!

GO HALO! GO HALO! IT'S YOUR BIRTHDAY!!! GO HALO!!!! :broccoli:

ScottyRo 05-06-2006 07:42 PM

I'm very interested in why he would choose to write about the Saints when he hasn't half an idea about what's really going on with the team other than Reggie Bush.

In short, yes.

NOSaints 05-06-2006 07:43 PM

Sorry if I ruffled your feathers LivnaLieTimay. I grew up in New York from age 7 to age 12, right before moving to New Orleans in 1967. I was actually a Jets and a Giants fan before the Saints were born. I even waited eagerly in the tunnel and got Joe Namath's autograph, which I still have and treasure. I apologize for saying that about New Yorkers. i was angry at that jerkoff's article, and I guess I was being irresponsible in what i wrote. I thought that would pis him off, and that was my intention. I never thought that anyone from New York would ever see that post. I guess I was wrong, and for that I ask your forgiveness. Now let's go out here and win DAMMIT.

NOSaints 05-06-2006 07:46 PM

That would be awesome Halo if you would write him an Official B&G rebuttal. I wonder if he would post it in his paper as a professional courtesy. I would love to see his response.

pakowitz 05-06-2006 07:47 PM

id love to see him eat crow

Halo 05-06-2006 07:49 PM

WAIT A MINUTE, WAIT A MINUTE, I'M LAUGHING SO HARD SNOT JUST CAME OUT OF MY NOSE. Wait a minute, I want to write this guy but I'm laughing so bad it's hard to type. I don't know whether to write a 4 paragraph blast, a paragraph by paragraph analysis/rebuttal, or write the word "RETARD" on a roll of toilet paper so he'll grab the correct roll to wipe his lips after he uses the restroom.

You know it's so bad it's almost genius... it's almost good it's so bad. Isn't there a university there, Mc Neese State or something? Do they have an english department? This is so terrible it's comedic, I almost want to put it on the front page.

pakowitz 05-06-2006 07:50 PM

McNeese St is in Lake Charles...

pakowitz 05-06-2006 07:51 PM

the only thing they have in DeRidder is Rednecks...and im talkin bout "Deliverance" type rednecks... not the classy alcoholic rednecks we got on this board  :givemebeer:

Scotty,

You have to read it again. There is some syllogistic error or grammatical... something... missing words even, in every sentence. I think this might be sarcasm that this guy is writing toward a friend or co-worker or something.

Do you really think this is for real?

LivnaLieTimay 05-06-2006 07:54 PM

Since you're from NY I'll let it slide NOSaints, haha. I thought you were someone who's never been to NY and was just hating, its all good, no hard feelings. It's guys like this Wadsack that give New Yorkers a bad name so I go on the defense to make sure idiots like him don't make us look bad. Halo, that's a good idea, a rebuttal from intelligent people who actually know about the Saints.

You know, I went back and re-read it, and you are right... there are grammatical errors as well as factual errors such as Aaron Brooks still being the QB or Joe Horn being drafted.

Is there any way to find out if this "paper" a real publication? Because if it is just an e-zine, is not worth it.

You know I was thinking the same thing, is this a newspaper or bloggy type portal. Blackandgold.net is registered as an internet broadcasting outlet which is now being taken more seriously and makes us pseudo news outlet, we've gotten press before. We've also has some crappy writing's I've published but at least the writers know facts and that the Saints play on Earth, so they're at least in the balpark. I can't tell if this is a blog e-zine... comedy parody.... and if it is I don't want to hurt his feelings, because like you said it's not worth it. But if this is legit and published in a newspaper, I am going to rip this guy's head off.

pakowitz 05-06-2006 08:43 PM

Well, ain't this nice? Seems like some on this website forget that one of our members is from De Ridder. One that's been a member for quite some time. I agree that this guy is a bit off the wall, but then again, who isn't?

I can't see how some of you can call everyone from De Ridder hicks or worse. It's not like some of us haven't said stupid things before.

This guy seems to have a problem with the Saints, oh well, seems to me like some of us have said the same things in the past years. It's one man's opinion!

I do not live in De Ridder anymore, I choose not to. However, it does not make me happy to have my home town talked about like this just because one idiot says what he feels, right or wrong. God knows I've heard some pretty dumb things on this site myself. I just never thought I'd ever hear something like this here.

So write away to the editor,if you choose. How do you think it will make you look? We do live in America. We all have our opinion.

I could care less how this guy feels or thinks about the Saints, I have been a Saints fan since 1967 and will remain one. I do however choose not to lower myself to his standards and belittle an entire town because on one writer.

If this is what this board has become, then I guess I'm not needed around here anymore.

pakowitz 05-06-2006 08:50 PM

joesam dont take it to heart... i have family from that area and u know that.. ive told u that before... but u have to admit that there are some "good ol boys" there...

BJSim 05-06-2006 09:29 PM

Halo, I for one say don't debase yourself or this site with a response. This guy is obviously one of those guys that, even with facts, doesn't change his mind. And you'd just be lending him credence that his paper, and opinion, matter. Let it go people.

kevinn1972 05-06-2006 09:30 PM

I'm with ya JoeSam. I'm from DeRidder myself and while some folks in my home town do resemble something from Deliverance and at times can be ignorant and absolute retards, there are a lot of good folks there. I ask that the people on this board not make statements like that. I come here for good, honest, informed opinions, and it brings down the quality of this board when ignorant statements are made. I'm in the Air Force so I don't get the opportunity to be surrounded by Saints fans and have good, passionate discussions and disagreements with many other Saints fans. This board gives a lot to me in information, humor, and good old fashion disagreement. I've read alot of your posts pakowitz and I know that you are as passionate a Saints fan as any that I have found. Please refrain from statements like that again. One thing Louisiana has no shortness of is towns full of "good ol boys", so the statement doesn't really have any value. Now the "gentleman" that wrote that column for the Beauregard Daily News is what we in DeRidder like to call a dumbass. Plain and simple. Plenty of those in the press as well. They're not confined to small country towns and newspapers. I can find plenty of examples for you if you like. However, I will agree with everyone that it's just plain ridiculous that this guy would actually post an article about the Saints when he obviously has bias and a total lack of information. But, folks, direct your venom to him, not your fellow fans.

Joe,

I'm not trying to make fun of Deridder, I think this guy might have missed a few English classes and probably the last few years of football for the Saints. I agree with what Scotty said, why is this person writing about the Saints.

Didn't mean for it to be offensive, but this guy is not an ambassador for anybody and makes us all look bad.

Pak apologize to Joe.

Joe, I’m from New Orleans, the chocolate city. My office is in Baton Rouge and people make fun of my hometown all the time, non-stop. I didn’t mean to put you down, believe me.

Joe I thought you were retired. Nice come-out-of-retirement speech, that was like Barry Sanders coming out of retirement. I'm supposed to be semi-retired from the forum. Seems like if I say something WWIII breaks out. I'm going back to my perch on the front page. I'll be on the third article to the right doing what I do best, staying out of the forum!

I love everybody!

pakowitz 05-06-2006 09:45 PM

i am truly sorry if i offended anyone... i was just trying to be humorious... apparentlyyou guys didnt see the sarcasm in my post and it didnt work out as i had planned... sorry joe and kevin and anyone else i may have offended....

Nobody wants to make fun of Deridder, I think Pak went overboard with his comment but he's from around those parts and I don't think he intended to offend anyone.

Public apology here from me, I have no intention of making fun of Derridder. Consider it dropped.

I'm from New Orleans, get stupid generalized comments all the time when I say I'm from here. I know the feeling.

halo write the fool and let us see a copy of your letter. the simple fact that he wrote arron brooks is still on the team makes him a moron of an idiot. drew brees in my opinion has been invaluable to the saints so far. from the ad he took out, to staying after practice to run through drills with other players that were hurt, calling bush when he found out we were taking him, which in my opinion led to bush taking out an ad himself. i like what i hear about this team right now. everything seems so positive and they seem like a team from what i am hearing and drew brees seems to be a huge reason why. is everyone else getting that feeling too?
