Possible Trade Senarios for Michael Bennett
There have been many rumors swirling around about the possibility of trading Bennett, since we acquired Reggie Bush. So far, the two perspective suitors are KC and Houston. Who/what do you realistically expect to recieve in return for Bennett?
Keeping in mind that it's Bennett, I think Sam Cowart (LB) of Houston would be a good value. |

RE: Possible Trade Senarios for Michael Bennett
I think nothing LESS than a third round pick. Personally....I think we should an adequate player that will fill a need. A good LB or DT or a saftey! (You know I'm kiddin bout the safety deal....)

A third round pick would be good, but I was thinking more along the lines of immediate help on the "D". Also, there has been talk that the Dolphins are interested in Bennett because of the Ricky Williams situation.

I was thinking for of a 5th rounder myself... I mean it's not like the guy is a superstar plus he's very injury prone. I'd hang up the phone on the other end if the Saints came at me asking for a 3rd for a backup runningback.
Cowart seems interesting but didn't they just sign him? But then again, we did just sign Bennett ourselves. |

Anything we get for Bennett is a plus...it is just like someone giving us a draft pick for nothing. He has never even suited up for the Saints. We signed him, then we got Bush, and now we dont need him. Anything you get for him is a plus.

Maybe a third rounder could be had. I don't think it would take much of a MLB or CB to replace our current starters though. Any improvement there would be very wise for a #3 RB.

Saints | Team still trying to deal Bennett
Sun, 21 May 2006 07:30:17 -0700 Mike Triplett, of the New Orleans Times-Picayune, reports the New Orleans Saints continue to talk with teams about trading veteran RB Michael Bennett. Reportedly, the Houston Texans are making the biggest push for Bennett. As previously reported, the Saints have already spoken with the Kansas City Chiefs and Miami Dolphins as well. Bennett signed a two-year deal with a reported signing bonus near $1 million, but his salary is an affordable $700,000 this season and $1.2 million next season. Hard to find much attractive muchless anyone they can afford to let loose from their roster. A 3rd from them should be a pretty high pick next spring I think. |
