Whoa whoa whoa...if you want to go back to when all of this first started, the first thing i said was that i like Stallworth, and i more than anyone else want to see him do well. But, i just have this feeling about him that he doesnt have the drive to be great. His inconsistency is beyond comprehension. He has lacked focus his entire career. He got blasted by his coach for sitting out games where they thought he could have played. Now i know there are two sides to that story, and that is why i am pulling for him. I would love him to be the number 1 guy here and break all the records that Joe has set...but i think the main thing that will drive him this year is the fact that if he performs well, he gets the pay raise...and then what? Does he revert back to his old ways or does he strive to get better? I just want to get to a point where i know what to expect from him, and that has never been the case.

I don't really wanna argue about it, but you just said if he does well, in your mind it's ALREADY cause he was looking ahead to a new contract. That's a cop out to me. So pretty much, nothing Donte does will satisfy you, cause even if he does well, you think it's for some ulterior motive. Well, I can't do anything about that, and I guess there's no expecting you to tip your hat to those who kept the faith in Donte. No worries.

Oregon Stats
2003 38 receptions for 1013 yards, 7 TD 2004 86 receptions for 1379 yards, 7 TD 2005 90 receptions for 1532 yards, 6 TD 150+ yards in 7 games in 2005 This guy has better hands than any reciever on our roster. He does not drop catchable balls. His stats show outstanding proggresion over his three years at Oregon. This guy is arguably the best reciever in his draft class. |

You are saying it like i dont want Donte to do well. I will be the happiest person here if he does. As a saints fan, its easy to convince yourself that players try to do well for the team, or for the city, or just to be great...i dont feel he is that type of player unless he does well this year, gets his money, and continues to get better...thats all i ask for...or even if he does well this year, can finally have back to back solid games, and gives this team a chance to compete, i will be cheering for him...and hey, i hope i am wrong when i say what i say about why he would play better, but only time will tell...I just cant believe that you, the most self-proclaimed "realistic" saints fan, wont even think that him playing for the contract is an option. Hey, if i am wrong, i'll admit it...but i have to look at this situation from every angle and that is one that i believe is a viable possibility given his past production and lack of development.

Wait, I never said it wasn't an option, I just said it's a cop out. That's like if those who have the faith in Donte just said, "Well, if he does poorly, it's cause it's a new system and not cause of Donte." That would be a cop out. If he does poorly, I am 100% ready to accept the fact that my faith in Donte was mis-guided. But on the flip side, you aren't prepared to say your outlook on him as a player was off. you'll just say he did it cause he wants money. That's a cop out. Now, you're talking to a guy who didn't want to give Joe a new contract before his old one ran out cause I felt he played through injury to get that deal, and once he got it, playing through injury would not be as important. Enter last season. How many games did Joe actually end up playing? So I am not saying I don't recognize the validity of your argument, but it leaves no room for you to admit people's faith in Donte was well placed. That's why I called it a cop out.

I've been saying it all along.....the man is the white version of Eric Martin. Not too fast....not too quick.....with crazy glue in his hands. I have faith in Hass. I'm obviously a sucker for underdogs...as much as I am excited about Reggie....I want Hass to succeed. I'll be sporting his jersey instead. Thats if they make it of course.

If they don't, you can get your own made. I am waiting for the league to say Reggie can at least wear 5 in 2007, and i''ll get my 5 bush jersey this year. Now watch how many people do the same. 8)
