Saints | Team has received four offers for M. Bennett
Tue, 30 May 2006 18:18:09 -0700

Adam Schefter, of the NFL Network, reports a New Orleans Saints official said Tuesday, May 30, that four teams have made trade offers for New Orleans RB Michael Bennett. The official declined to name any of the potential suitors, but speculation has been that the list includes the Miami Dolphins, Houston Texans and Kansas City Chiefs. However, the Saints continue to insist they will not just give away Bennett. Without the right trade, the Saints say they will not make it.

Lets hope the chargers are the fouth. They better not just give him away

would keeping bennet be so bad?
he would ensure freshness among the RB's throughout the game and the year

Its not that its bad....its just that we are in a good position to fill another hole by letting him go. We have Deuce, Bush, and Stecker. Bennet would be awesome but that guy can start on a bunch of other teams. We can try to get some good linebackers or something for him.

I'll agree with that. Long as we don't try to trade him to Miami for Eddie Moore like we did with Watson.

We should keep him until we find out how dueces health is going to be. Clayton had said the other day that Dueces recovery is behind schedule. We havent seen what bennet has either.. Maybe Payton has and thats why he's on the block? I dont know, I think I may just try out for the saints, you think they will take me even though I run 14 second 40? lol

Clayton said Deuce was behind schedule? I missed that one. All I ever heard was Deuce was ahead of schedule. That sucks.

Bennett was a track star in college... I wouldn't mind having him return kickoffs with Bush. I'm more in favor of trading away Stecker... though he probably doesn't have any value.

Exactly...he really has little to no value. Now the whole Deuce behind schedule irks me but.....there is nothing we can do about him. His contract is until like 2010 or something....the cap hit would be enormous.

Can someone provide the story to the whole Deuce thing? A few months ago, he was way ahead of schedule. This is all I found from Clayton:

Teams lining up for Bennettposted: Tuesday, May 16, 2006

Add the Kansas City Chiefs to the teams interested in trading for Saints halfback Michael Bennett. Bennett signed with the Saints to be Deuce McAllister's backup, but those plans went the other way when the Saints drafted Reggie Bush. The Texans are the main team trying to acquire Bennett, but the Saints have initiated talks with the Chiefs, who aren't 100 percent sure if Priest Holmes will play this year because of neck problems.

The only thing I have heard and unfortunately I have no link but I saw this on TV was that Deuce was recovering just fine BUT....he may be dealing with a bit of a weight issue.
