Ding dong, the fat *** is gone!

Sully's one smart mofo. He bided his time, taking his rediculously large paycheck and upfront bonus and saved himself and his health for a team that makes the playoffs every year instead of one that probably won't for a while. He'll be a super stud for two years, get another rediculously large contract, then pull his lunchline routine again.

I'm with all those who wonder how many other teams could have given us SOMETHING other than a redundancy for Sully.

Sully was a joke from day one and showed up at camp 60 pounds overweight. He was offered 100,000 bucks a week just to go and work out and never showed up. The guy doesn't have any work habits and he'll be out of the league in a few years. We took the trade to keep from taking a cap hit and free up even more money to make a long term Bush contract. Willie Whitehead is not a huge playmaker but he is solid, dependable, and works hard. I spoke to him a bit at the first mini-camp, didn't get a chance at this last one becouse I was -trying- to speak to Brees, Buch, and Horn, Willie told me when I asked him "Man, you taking Sully's job this year or what?", "Man, I realy hope I get a chance to start this year, you know I've been working real hard and coach tells us we all have a spot open to us if we earn it".. So, I'm pulling for him. He's got the personality that Peyton looks for and is the type of guy that gives it his all every down. He wont make alot of sacks but he wont be giving up big plays from assignment mistakes.

Does anybody really know if we're actually saving money this way? Will we be taking any cap penalties because of the trade?

Even despite these questions, I am happy that we got rid of Sully. I nearly had an anneurism when we traded two draft picks for a defensive tackle, and I think things just went downhill from there. People on this board, including myself (although at times I have mixed in sporadic outbursts of optimism claiming that Sully might come through next year) have been calling for Sully's head for a long time. I'm just glad he's gone. I think he has been something of a distraction to this team, just like ABs freakin antics were a distraction. His shenanigans about not being able to get to the right weight and in general just being a worthless tub of goo, IMO, always put a damper on the team. I mean seeing a guy consistently fail and yet still be given the opportunity to play for your team must wear on a player's mind. What kind of example was he setting? I like that Payton is saying that if you play games and don't take care of business, you'll be gone quicker than a Big Mac dangled in front of Sully's face.

Although I do agree that getting Bethel Johnson doesn't seem to be the ideal trade, we did get rid of Sully. That's really all I can say about that. I honestly didn't think we'd get ANYthing for him, so getting an extremely fast WR to go with our four other extremely fast WRs doesn't seem too bad. Also, somebody mentioned that we should have gotten a CB or DT or something else from the Pats. Like who? If anybody remembers anything about the Patriots' struggles last year, a lot of it revolved around their lack of cornerbacks and defensive players in general. THey lost Willie McGinest this year, so they don't exactly have a lot to trade with.

Anyways, I'm still disappointed with that draft pick and Sully himself, but I'm glad his fat lard arse distraction is gone.

If Stallworth and Henderson could be on the way out, can anyone say....nahhhhhhh...not gonna say his name.....some may get edgy.

Not too bad of a trade. Johnson is good insurance in case Beerman can't really come back from injury. Glad we cut our losses and dropped Sully. I tired of hearing about his half-hearted training efforts and level of commitment. We've at least got a chance that Johnson will revive his career down here, you never can tell w/ wide receivers.

I wish he had stayed and done well. But I sure will not miss all that hate he gets. I think it takes time for most players to play well. But it seems every draft pick is expected to be great their first year.

I can't believe some are saying this was a bad move. Have they forgotten how absolutely HORRIBLE that fat tub of goo called Sullivan is??? Do they not remember that draft day disappointment when it appeared we were trading up to get Terrell Suggs only to wind up with this simp? I was HYPED when i read this trade on the ticker and my roomate was like "Dude Bethel Johnson isn't good". I told him I would have taken a bag of chips for Sully and the very fact that we got someone of some use for him is exciting to me. We have yet another blazer that can stretch the field even more. I don't think this has anything to do with Stallworth, but I agree that the writing is on the wall. Payton is making it perfectly clear that it doesn't matter where you were picked in the draft or how much money you make, if you don't conform, you won't be here. Stallworth better shape up quick or he won't be too far behind Sully. He's New England's problem now.

Could this be a move to free up some more cap space so that we could sign Ty Law?

I seriously doubt it. I don't think even Mark Cuban could afford to pay what Ty's asking for.
