1st play in Saints history:
94 yd. Kickoff return for a touchdown by John Gilliam. What an inspiring way to start a team's legacy. What the hell happened? One more: Why are the Saints called the Saints? The franchise was granted to New Orleans on All Saints' Day |

The Saints selected Russell Erxleben, K, Texas in the 1979 draft. I could be wrong, but I think that's the highest any kicker has ever been taken.

I'll opt to put something good instead of bad.
Michael Lewis is only one of seven players (at least at the time, not sure now) in NFL history to return a kickoff and a punt return for TD's in the same game. I just wish his play hadn't declined in the last few years. |
