The Bears May Have the Answer
First You have this:
Bears | Briggs rejected a deal worth about $5.5 million per season Sat, 1 Jul 2006 10:12:25 -0700 Brad Biggs, of the Chicago Sun-Times, reports Chicago Bears LB Lance Briggs turned down a deal worth about $5.5 million per season, which would have made him one of the highest-paid players on the roster. The Bears wound up rescinding the offer and Briggs in turn boycotted the team's voluntary offseason program. Briggs is expected to report to training camp and will likely play out the season without contract talks reopening. Then you hear this Bears | Team showing interest in Brooks Sat, 1 Jul 2006 03:32:49 -0700 Matthew Barrows, of the Sacramento Bee, reports agent Greg Williams said the Chicago Bears are showing some interest in Virginia LB Ahmad Brooks. He is eligible for the July 13 NFL Supplemental draft. would you take him over donnie? I would. The only thing I can see them wanting from us would be WR. Sorry whoodiii. But what else would they want. Sure he has benifited from playing on the best LB corp in the NFL but I think he has the skill to lead our unit. He maybe a good target in next years FA since we got alot 1 year contracts at LB. |

RE: The Bears May Have the Answer
Briggs was foolish not to take that deal. Briggs is a solid player in an outstanding defense but 5.5 a season and he turns it down? I think he's over estimating his worth. The Bears scheme has a lot to do with the success he's had the past year. I can definately see another Trotter situation coming on here. He's going to leave for more money, not having the same type of success, and then regretting his decision to leave in the first place.
