I remember a game in the dome a few years back. I was sitting right next to a fan of the opposing team. (I don't remember what team it was, though.) Anyways, at the beginning of the game, he started giving me crap about my Sammy Knight jersey. He asked me who Knight was and said how he must not be that good because he had never heard of him.

Sammy Knight had 2 interceptions in that game. I loved it.

Knight was definately a head hunter & would lay the big hit, but his coverage skills were nowhere near that of Dave Waymer (not dissing Sammy-I loved Sammy's intensity when he was here). And....Waymer liked to lay down the big hit as well.

Good story. Who's Sammy Knight? -- he's that guy that just intercepted your quarterback.

Again.

That was a very nice era! I loved the way the Saints defense got at it. My biggest frustration was watching a very talented offense, lead mostly by Bobby Hebert, go 3 and out seemingly all the time. If the Saints could have figured out how to score points, it would have been at least 3 Superbowls for them. Since I really believe Bobby Hebert was an all world QB, I still blame Carl Smith...

If I'm not mistaking, I think it was against the Steelers. Good times!

You know, this video was peiced together by highlights from just a FEW games. I wish there were more.

All world? What about the playoff game vs. the Falcons. 4th down, last play of the game, we're in the red zone and Hebert throws the ball 20 feet high in the air out the back of the endzone. At least AB would have hit Stan Brock in the head with it.

Carl Smith and the lack of a big play WR.

Ah yes, the dreaded dirty birdz. I will still make a god-awful gumbo out of one of those nasty pigeons one of these days.

I still get angry when I hear the two most hated words in the English language - Steve Bartkowski.
