Thoughts on our CBs?
Seems we are pretty stacked at the safety spots. And of course we have McKenzie. But did our opposite corner situation change much? Fred Thomas is still there (whom I've always liked), but behind him it appears thin. What does everybody think?

Pretty much the same thing. We're stacked with unproven players behind those two and if Craft is our nickel, we're in trouble.

Anything ever happen with Dwight Smith? I was hearing trade rumors a week or so ago, but never saw if anything was finalized.

I think a lot is up in the air until training camp is over. McKenzie will obviously be a CB, and Fred is a solid corner. I don't know if the team is actually trying to move Smith to corner or not. If so, he and McKenzie make a solid pair at corner with Bellamy and Bullocks at safety while the newer players learn the ropes. If Smith stays at safety, it'll probably be Smith and Bullocks at safety with Fred and McKenzie at CB. I don't think they'll use Smith as a nickel corner becuase he's too good not to have playing most of the downs. Move Craft or one of the newer players to dime back.

We have half of a secondary. MM is very solid. I think he's one of the better CBs in the NFC in terms of an all-around player stopping the pass and the run. I don't really understand why Stoutmire is listed ahead of Dwight Smith. Dwight is a very good player, and I think it might just be a motivational tool by the coaching staff to get him to buy into the system. I read on PFL Whispers from Around the NFL that Smith is no longer on the block because the coaching staff was so impressed with how he handled his demotion. I hope he regains the starting spot because he's such a good safety. However, right now, without Smith starting, we only have one good starting safety in Bullocks. He's young, but he had a pretty good year last season, and I hear he's making strides this offseason. If Dwight cracks the starting lineup with Bullocks by the start of the season, we would have 3/4 of a secondary. That other corner bothers me. Seriously, who do we have? Fred Thomas? He's awful. We need some help there.

Fred Thomas is the not most dominating guy out there to say the least, but he's far and beyond from being an awlful football player. I think you're mistaking Thomas for Craft.

I'm not a big Craft fan. But he is an exceptional athlete. Perhaps he can step up and excel in the new regime.
I'm not quite ready to give up on him. 8) |

And while Fred Thomas might not be an AWFUL player, (that might have been a slight exaggeration), he is by no means good. How about that? |
