Just an idea about Henderson
I had an idea today about Devery Henderson and was wondering what some of yall at the b&g had to say. What if........ the Saints traded Michael Bennett, and converted Henderson into the backup running back? It's my understanding that he was a runner who was converted to reciever at LSU anyway. His hands seem to be suspect from what I read, however, when he gets the ball in his hands he is dynamite. It would be a shame to let him get cut and picked up elsewhere, cause he's so talented. I remember him being a very fast, explosive runner when he was running the ball at LSU. If their willing to try McPhearson elsewhere on the field, why not Devery? When they trade Bennett they will need another runner anyway, and Henderson is a blazer. More thoughts please, thanks. (go saints!)

RE: Just an idea about Henderson
Devery is a little too light in the rear to be a RB. Unfortunately, his "stone hands" are going to get him cut at the WR position. Can you say Eddie Kennison? All speed....No hands.

RE: Just an idea about Henderson
lets say duce's knee does not hold up. what back field would you want?
Bush, Bennett, Stecker Bush, Stecker, Henderson Sorry I would not trade Bennett. Our LB are still better than last year. Hollis is an upgrade to sully. bite the bullet this year on D. now if a ROT is there i would pause but still would not pull the trigger. give up a safty or WR first. duce still needs to prove he can run on that knee. I do not want to see bush carring the ball 25 - 30 times a game. god help us if we have to rest our hopes on the pass game with the OL such a big ? |

RE: Just an idea about Henderson
That's an interesting idea nedly. I mean if he isn't going to work out as a receiver, why not? Might as well make some use of his talents. He did drop a lot of balls at LSU when he was there and everyone knew he was raw as a receiver in college and when he was drafted. Or, we could trade him to another team that was high on him during that draft year. I'm pretty sure we'd be able to get a decent draft pick out of him if he doesn't pan out here.

I think he'll stay at the 3 spot until later in the season when Hass takes over. We still need depth at WR becuase of Horn and Stallworth's injury problems.

I think we will end up with Horn, Stallworth, Henderson, Haas, and Lewis on the roster...maybe even C. Horn or Lyman...Lewis will pick up return duties and wont see much play at WR at all....I think Lewis also stands a chance of getting cut if one of these recievers stands out as a returner in camp and Lewis is still riding that bike...I would hate to see him go but his 15 minutes may be over

Hence, calling the guy "Stone Hands" would seem to me to be a fair assessment. :P As an LSU alumni, I hate to point out those kind of things. Hell....Xavier Carter was of the same mold. World class sprinter...no hands. Face it....both Kennison & Henderson couldn't catch a cold if they were butt naked, hiking in Alaska. They are both blazingly fast, though.

but he still was a VERY productive WR last season...and in the NFL it is what have you done for me lately, so no one cares what his early career was like.
