this is a discussion within the Saints Community Forum; Since donte seems like he cant grasp payton's offense, who thinks it would just be best to trade him for ashley lelie, not really an upgrade but maybe a change of scenry can help these two.....if they do it sooner ...

Since donte seems like he cant grasp payton's offense, who thinks it would just be best to trade him for ashley lelie, not really an upgrade but maybe a change of scenry can help these two.....if they do it sooner rather then later they can get plenty of reps in traning camp ...

Yeah that'd be nice if Lelie didn't suck and wasn't a premadonna a**hole. I use to like Lelie when he first came out of Hawaii. I thought he was going to be a stud. Since then he's averaged something like 45 catches a season and has been a total moron by trying to hold out with the Broncos like that's going to do something. He thinks he deserves something, when in reality he doesn't deserve jack crap besides the money for a second or third string WR. I would much rather have Stallworth who IMO is a better receiver and has less of an attitude.

The Broncos would probably take that in a heartbeat. I don't see how we win here. An underachieving talent that will be a free agent for an underachieving talent that is basically a restricted free agent. I might be biased since I don't like Lelie at all, but I think Donte's a much better receiver.

just wait......
I would think it better to see if Stallworth comes aroundthis year and emerges the Hornof the future. He's got the talent, I'm not sure about the heart. Horn does not have many years left, however he might go to the probowl this year if he stays healthy. Lelie will cause the same sort of problems. They both seem like primadonas to me (2nd tier). At least Devery seems to be trying hard and is allowing himself to be coached.

I think Stallworth loves this team. Anytime I've heard him talk about it he's passionate about playing in New Orleans. Maybe I am biased being that he is one of my favorite Saints but I hope he doesnt go.

no head cases please. him and edwards would be a step in the wrong direction. who knows donte could finally take that step and join the best WR of the game finally. he could be our franchise guy next year. now that would be some good crow for me eat. i would be smiling on ever bite.

Lelie can get open and catch balls deep down the sideline. But that seems like that's all he can do. Donte showed some signs of bigger things to come last year and has better run-after-catch ability.. Let's look at the #'s - Stallworth had nearly 1000 yds receiving and 7 TD's despite substandard QB's and having to fight double coverage w/ Horn hurting last year. Lelie has Rod Smith taking the pressure off him and had a good QB throwing balls to him last year. And Lelie finished w/ a few hundred yards and 6 TD's shy of Stallworth. Hell, Lelie isn't even in my fantasy football guide this year. If the new coaching staff can work with Donte on the drops, he could be one of the best #2's in the league. This one's a no-brainer - let the Broncos deal w/ Lelie.

Despite all the negative reports on Donte, I feel he will have a great year. Donte does have the tools to be a number 1 receiver, but I agree that so far he has questionable heart. Right now Donte is not even close to what a healthy Joe Horn brings to the team. However, in the end, I think it will be a great year for Donte. At this point, trading him to Denver for Lelie would probably be a mistake.
