Freddy Mac
I got a chance yesterday to talk to Fred McAfee. he says he feels great and is ready for year 16. He feels he still has fuel in his tank and can contribute to this team. You can tell just by watching him on the field what a leader he is. Coach Payton is giving him more chances to be a tailback than Haz ever gave him. Payton wants people who can contribute in more ways than one. freddy's attitude is up there in the stratusphere. You can see it on the field. He's always upbeat and stays after practice till everyone has an autograph that wants on. He'll talk to you like you are one of the guys. He's quick with a joke or quip.
Of all the people on this team, just out of favoritism, I hope he makes it. This guy is a class act! P.S. I asked him how he liked his new number. He said he's beginning to like it a lot.(with a hugh grin on his face) Wonder what that meant? LOL |

I think I answered this in another thread but he is looking pretty good. He just needs to get more time on the field. I like him too and hope he is one of the squad when this is all over. Unless someone else really steps up their game I believe he'll make it.

Trading Michael Bennett should dramatically increase the chances of Fred McAfee making the team. I like the idea of giving him more reps at the RB position. The Saints really need to have guys like McAfee on the team. His attitude is exceptional!!!

I don't think he'll make it, Bennett gone or not...He's old as hell and we have tons of specialist who are better than him...I say Joseph will beat him out, Kieth Joseph has played FB and RB, and he has produced extremely well at both positions...He'll add depth to both Backing positions, and he's young...He catches outta the backfield quite well and he'll run flat over, blocking or running...Face it, Freedie Mac is now gone

we do not have a ton of gunners. He is one of the best gunners last year and a pro bowler. he still has it. it is an art. shame the inside cover guys on the flanks were so bad last year. He and Gleason are the best we got and till I see a player step up and compete for their jobs I would say they are safe. Fast Freddie by all reports is still out there schooling all the young pups. gleason will be gone before him
