Fresh Edwards Trade Talk
Mike Detellier on WWL commented that he believes Edwards will be a Saint within a week. The Chargers have apparently backed off on the 2nd and will take less. He speculates a pick with a lesser player such as one of the young wideouts. Similar to the 7th + JT OSullivan for McKenzie.

I trust Mike D...he knows his stuff. But at the same time, i just heard that the talks between the Saints and Chargers for Edwards have broken off. I do have a feeling that since the Chargers just locked up another one of their young LB's they are more willing, and if the Saints have another poor showing tomorrow, a deal will get done one way or another.
I also believe that the Chargers would have traded Edwards months ago when all of this started but they are holding on to him to spite him. When its all said and done, Edwards will play for the Saints this year. |
It's all in the reflexes.

I hope we can work something out, but I don't want to give up a first-day pick for him. The Chargers apparently denied our trade requests when we were offering a 4th rounder. If they do take the 4th for him, I'll be happy. However, a pick with a 7th and a crappy player would be nice too.

Especially when the kid has done nothing but impress since coming to camp. If we trade him or Hass before their rookie seasons, I'm boycotting the season.

the Carolina buzz generated from this ESPN chat:
Ric ( Charlotte ): Jake Delhomme just restructred his contract today, freeing up $2.5mm in cap space for this year. Why would he do that at this point, are the Cats looking to make a move? Jeremy Green: (4:22 PM ET ) Well, they need to find a LB (Diggs has another knee injury and he was replacing "spoon". I did hear this today from a pretty good source of mine. They have contacted the Chargers about Donnie Edwards' availability. |
