Payton putting character first
I see a trend, and wonder if I'm the only one. I think Payton is getting good solid character's on the team. I don't think these ARE THE MOST SKILLED PLAYERS IN THE LEAGUE, BUT MAY HELP CUT DOWN ON THE OFF-THE-FIELD ISSUES. The players he's bringing in seem to be more intelligent than skilled..with overacheiveing -type mentallity. Maybe he is planning on getting vetrans with character to mentor youngsters for the future. Any thoughts on that?

RE: Payton putting character first
Why does it always have to be the F'ing future for this team? Answer me that! Future draft pick or free agent or coach ect ect ect... Just get it done or go home. I think that they should have a timetable for team ownership. If your team has a lossing record two years in a row you have to sellout and sit in a dunk tank outside the stadium during the entire next season! Ya take that!

You don't build a champion overnight...especially when the old coach put you in a hole and ownership has made poor decisions! Rome wasn't buildt in a day!

Danny Weurfel had a lot of great character and no off field issues and look how much that helped us win. We're making as many bad moves as we are good ones.

Did you say Wuerful? He had no one around him. Look at T.O...He is the greatest talent at his position in the league, and character is what caused him to sit out the season last year..he tore a hole in his team...Character and intelligent makes great team-players! Drew Brees is not the most talented QB in the league, nor is he big! He's not gifted with mobility like Michael Vick, doesn't have a quick release like Marino, and isn't a Rocket launcher like most Q.B's. His intelligence and leadership abilities allow him to be a good manager and leader. He has character and intelligence; that's why he's a pro Bowler...Skill is only part of the equation. Ask Maurice Clarrett, Lawrence Phillips, or Ricky Williams how many superbowl rings they have...?

Payton could have had a catchy slogan for this year...
PUTTING CHARACTER FIRST, NOT CHARACTERS phew, not Bengal bad but certainly plenty to go around in the Haz era... Dale Carter! One of my favor--- excuse me ---ite players ever--- ssssnort ---signed. Porkchop and Dingaling in the Press Chow line! Bryan Cox for clubhouse leadership! Tebucky "3 Draft Picks For" Jones- what an athlete! Surly Turley! Ashley "One More Mile Left In Him" Ambrose THE great player on an average team! Cie "Never See" Grant Albert "Fingers" Connell! and that's just off the top of my head LOL |
