Broncos | Wilson Could Be Gone In Denver - from www.KFFL.com
Sun, 11 May 2003 10:55:45 -0700

The Denver Post reports Denver Broncos LB Al Wilson thinks this season might be his last with the team, as he is in the final year of his contract. Wilson admits it’s a strong possibility he could go elsewhere, especially because the Broncos selected LB Terry Pierce in the second-round of the NFL Draft.

Good time to make a deal??

i just read that also lumm... i think he would be a super addition to our LB core... he is young, very fast and agile and still has yet to tap his potential...

Good time to make a deal??

along the same lines, why don\'t we make a play for jamir miller? all he was being offered are incentive based one year contracts. with our cap situation he could be a great signing. how bout it?

Al Wilson, Jamir Miller, anybody right now I think would be better than we have. I\'m not sure I wouldn\'t be better. Hey at 6\'2\" 317lbs, I might just make a try of it. Nahhhhh something about 4 knee operations and a bad heart tells me I got NO CHANCE lol. I sure hope i\'m wrong about these guys.

Jamir Miller seems like a great guy to play the \"buck\" position but everything I read about him sounds as if it is iffy as to whether he will be able to play again (let alone be the same player again). Plus, he turned down a million dollar bonus from Cleveland for a one year deal. I\'m also hesitant to get Wilson. I hear the Saints love Ruff (who we have for three years) so why not give him a shot? It just is not worth giving up a draft pick for Wilson. Now if he gets cut, well that is a different story.

I really like Al Wilson. He is a big hitter and a fiery competitor. The biggest knock on him is that he is short armed and doesn\'t have good timed speeds, but by watching his games he doesn\'t show it. Seems to have the same perceptions that Knight gets. Bad measurables, but a good player. Maybe the speed of their other backers Gold and Mobley hide his lack of stopwatch speed. I don\'t know. All I do know is unlike Ruff, he didn\'t lose his job to a rookie yet. He very well may lose it to Terry Pierce.
When I focus more on our LB situation we definitely have alot of depth and alot of potential. We know what we\'re getting if Darrin Smith takes the field and that\'s about it. Sedrick Hodge really needs to improve on his intensity and his recognition. He doesn\'t ever seem to go all out, nor does he react well to what unfolds in front of him. As for Allen, Ruff, Grant, etc., they all may pan out great, it just seems alot to ask for three players, all in the same aspect of a position, to step up to starter caliber. I like all the guys, I just don\'t feel comfortable going into the season with three unknowns side-by-side.
As for Jamir Miller, IMO he would have to be a steal if we were to sign him. There\'s just something wrong with his picture if so many teams just lay off wihout any interest. Even Cleveland doesn\'t seem too keen on making a genuine attempt to keep him.

lumm0x - I\'ve been saying that for months. Bottom line is that your linebacking corp is basically completely unproven. In five years Ruff hasn\'t put up impressive numbers yet. Hodge did not perform like they expected he could last year and Allen just has way too little playing time to really judge. All have potential - I won\'t argue that - it\'s just a little nuts to think all three will pan out this year. I don\'t know. I\'m still in shock that they haven\'t gone after a LB.
