RE: Re: RE: Payton on Horn

after re-reading that, it sounds like payton was referring to horn's blocking, not to his pass receptions. nola made the remark about "several drops." correct me if i am wrong, but brees only threw to horn three times in the entire game, with two completions. the incomplete pass was high.

Joe will be ok, What Payton need to do
is tell Bress...When a play is called to Joe
get the ball there on time and up off the field.

All truth, this was the problem with Horn early(except drops) when Haz coached
Haz just was never a good enough to see it by Horn scoring all the time, I like what Payton said and it'll make Horn play better

and what problem was that again?

Payton is right..Joe didn't block down field, and that is a must for a reciever if he wants to spring Reggie and Duece loose! Joe needs to do more than show up and catch passes. The great ones are great every play, especially when they aren't getting the ball...Keyshawn and Hines are the two best blockers.

After watching the game on NFL replay this morning, I wasn't as concerned about Horn's performance. The timing seemed to be off between Brees and Horn on a lot of the balls thrown his way. The coverage was tight on a few plays. He was targeted often enough by Brees, it was just one of those rough days. At least he didn't have any blatantly inexcusable drops.

That's how I saw it. I also liked how Horn and Brees sort of sought each other out on the field after the game was over which said to me they were acknowledging each other's connection as the teammates and pros that they are so I'm confident they'll work it out. I've felt for a long time that it's the cohesivesness as a team that's been missing, not a lack of talent. Horn has been there time and time again to try and be the glue and I wish all of the NFL could see that. Most people just remember his celphonegate and didn't get what he was trying to convey. I'm not ready to pronounce them new and improved once and for all; but at least for one game, I saw more positives than negatives.

Said it once, I'll say it again until somebody with ears hears me:

Drew Brees isn't leading his receivers!

Look at your TIVO's and you'll see that the majority of his passes (Pre-season and 1st game)have been low and behind. Almost throwing like he's scared to throw the damn ball and we all know that a frightened QB is about as useful as teats on a bull. If the pass is there, Joe "Little Big" Horn will catch it.

Next thread please...

i think its just paytons way of trying to light a fire with joe. i dont think he was bashing him but trying to push him more. if joe gets going the way he can, its gonna open up so much with colston, reggie, and deuce playing the way they did.
