Of course there is a chance......havent you followed the history of this rivalry? They are notorious for playing close games with each other, regardless how good or bad either team is...

I was browning the Atlanta Falcons' messageboards. It scared me a bit. Hence, this thread.
I'm starting to realise how OVER-HYPED the Falcons are. Nobody is hyping our team, they all think we're going to lose. They're hyping up the game and the fact that the dome is opening once again. I'm just going to try to keep the FAITH. When I wake up tomorrow, I'm going to be full-throttle black and gold, though. |

I think Abraham and Hartwell are questionable for the game. That helps.

If recent memory serves, the last few Saints/ Dirty Bird games have been decided by a margin of 3 pts. Where are my stats when I need em?
In other words, YES, we have bit more than a chance...let's call it a possibility. |

in a word, YES
All the intangibles in the world seem to be chanting Go Saints! this week. Intangibles is somethig Payton seems to have a very good sense of and making use of. Putting the gris-gris on Abraham. Looks like it is working already on Hartwell. Now who next? |

Here's what I'm thinking:
Yes, of course we have a chance. Historically, we always play the Falcons close, even if we're not as good of a team. That alone tells me that the game should be a good one. Also, this is going to be the most electric atmosphere of any event that comes to mind. Besides maybe 9/11 games in NYC, I don't know of a sporting event that is going to have so much meaning to a single city. I wish so badly I could be there, but I'm just glad our team is back at home. Remember what happened last season when we played the Panthers in Week 1. We were awful last season, and pure emotion was enough to help us beat one of the best teams in the NFL. We're better this year, and I think there's going to be more emotion than last season, so it bodes well. |

We'll win if and only if the players can ignore all the bs surrounding the homecoming and play smart, disciplined football.
You can sneak up on people in the first two weeks of the season, but by week 3, most if not all your mystery has been debunked. I don't think that the Saints will have as hard a time as the Panthers and the Bucs had against the Falcon rush, but they'll still get 200 yards. That may not be enough to win, however. |

I have faith in Payton, he'll have this team ready to play. It won't be easy but I look for the Saints to play well above their heads tonight. They know how important this is to the city and it's people. With so much riding on this game I can't see the Saints not winning.
