Looking at the history of these teams would probably be a waste of time. Both of these teams have had fairly big changes on both sides of the ball. Seems to me we see a lot of the Saints best ball against the Panthers, and the same can be said for them. I think it will be a good game, no predictions here, I just want to see a Saints win.

I think in our new pastime of being fans of a perennially good team, it is our job to EXPECT a win. So, hell, yeah, they can beat the Panthers. And I think it's our job after a loss to NOT be critical. Be disappointed and maybe even mad for a bit but not critical. We know a loss is going to come sooner or later and, God knows, Saints fans have had PLENTY to criticize in the past; but this is NOT your father's Saints team. I feel a difference, don't ya'll? And it's not just wishful thinking as it has so often been in the past. I think we can feel it deep down.

All that being said, I also feel deep down that Atlanta is going to feel like a cakewalk compared to this upcoming Panthers game. I think we're going to feel like we took the hits physically along with the players. I'm not saying they can't do it. They can. But either way, I'm ready. One game at a time. And I'm looking forward to each and every one no matter what the final score is.

True. When you work hard to eliminate the mistakes that causes losses, winning should become an expectation.

Agree with the first part but not with the second. One of the reasons that this group of Saints are successful early in the season is because they are self critical. Payton's always talking about "cleaning up" errors. Not a bad thing at all.

New we will have to face the fact that there are established, talented, and well coached teams out there. Each of those games will be a battle.

I'll be satisfied as long as the Saints do not beat themself. If they do, I'll be critical. And I belive so should you.

Smart, prepared, versitile, motivated, and resiliant are all attributes that instantly come to mind with this team.

The Panthers have not yet established an identity this year. I mean their defense was run all over by Atlanta, and they nearly lost a game to an 0-3 team led by a QB who finished his day in surgery.

They'll be at home, and they'll be desparate I'm sure. 1-3 with 1-2 in the division behind a team that's 4-0 and 2-0 in the division is a hole that'll be nearly impossible to dig out of.

But from what we've all seen, when the Saints play their brand of smart football, they are difficult to beat.

SFIAH

Super Bowl Championships: New Orleans Saints:1, Carolina:0, Atlanta Chokers: STILL ZERO

Only Atlanta choked in an unchokable situation... Life is definitely good.

SaintFaninHotlanta, I don't disagree with this at all. This was SOP in the past for the Saints to beat themselves. I just don't see it happening with this team. What I meant was that if they have 1, maybe 2, games this year where they just play stupid, we try to grin and bear it rather than forgetting all the other great games they played and start dogging them right away. If it turns out they're the same old Saints, hell, yeah, be as critical of them as we should be. But I think MVP (Most Valuable Payton) will be more critical of them than we can be. 3-0 like Lombardi? Not bad company to be in!
