Panther Talk

What some of the Panthers fans are saying....

" For N.O just like Atlanta it will come down to containment. Keep Delhomme and Smith on the sidelines and play ball control. Easier said than done I know. I know some guy's on here have predicted the Saints to simply fade away. Don't believe that. Sean Peyton has these guy's playing as a team. Good luck to yall and don't let us anywhere near yall's field surface before the game! LOL"

" The Panthers have a great couch in Fox, but man o' man I was so impressed with Peyton as an almost teen-like coach...truely uniting a damn good team...so this one is a rumble. You can bet that the fans wearing gold and black will be heard on the streets...we better beat them...I don't wanna hear all that saintsfan tripe! JK"

" First off... congrats, kudos, and props to the Saints for a helluva win Monday night. Well done! and much needed for the city of Nawlins. Now as to this week... unlike some of the girls -erm, members -on here, I don't think it'll be much of a game at all. The Saints are coming into BOA and will get slapped like beeeeotches. I predict our DL will rough up Brees and keep him from getting comfortable all day. That oughta put a stop to that rinky dink crap to Bush and the WRs. My prediction is Smitty racks up 150 yards and 2 TDs. Brees gets sacked 4 times. We wind up with +3 turnovers. Foster and DWill combine for 120 yards. We win by 18. Buck and Aikman squirt their shorts fawning over the Saints -undeservedly. Sanity is restored. "

" I dont think the saints have a chance in hell to make the playoffs but its still exciting. They are playing very smart football and I am really impressed at the coaching. They somehow manage to take crappy defensive players and use good strategy to be effective. The panthers have been my second favorite team since they signed the man who should be the QB of the saints Delhomme. Signing Brooks over Delhomme has to be one of the dumbest movies in football history."

" Congrats to all the Saints fans, on the win over the Falcs. There's a lot of talk about whether the Saints are "For Real" or not, but here's some undeniable truth for everyone here: the Saints are 3-0 and the Panthers have lost more than they've won. "Real" or not, this one's gonna be tough. I DO think the Panthers will eek one out though. And MAN! when (if) the Panthers DO win, The NFCS race will officially be in high gear!"

" The saints have run a defensive scheme designed to stop the running game every week so far. Their philosophy seems to be that if you make the other team throw the ball they will make mistakes and it allows their 2 pass rushing ends do what they do best. Against Atlanta they basically made Vick beat them with his arm and he couldnt do that. They did it with the browns and they couldnt do it. They did it with the Packers and Favre lit them up but couldnt stop the saints offense. Their offense seems to be very versatile. Much is said about Bush but they have 3 very solid receivers to go with the dual threat in the backfield. You cant just double team one receiver or focus on shutting down Bush, there are just too many weapons. The only real way I see to keep them from scoring is to put constant pressure on Brees, if he doesnt get the time needed for them to get open he isnt mobile enough to buy the time with his legs."

" It is rather amazing what can be accomplished with LBs who stay in their gaps. I had talked about us signing Scott Fujita during the offseason; bet we all wish we had now."

" Word. I think that the Katrina Vickdums are gonna verschnizzle the bejesus out of the NFCS! They are fired up, and to think someone here was saying they were a piece of "cake" just a couple days ago! I am telling anyone willing to listen that Brees is getting the protection, get him safe in the pocket and he's more deadly than Jake. Deuce and Bush are kicking everyone's butt and while their TY's are low, like Goings, they punch when it counts. Finally their D is just kickin' and probably the best in the conference. WE obviously missed the idea that Lucas & crew are not near the quality we'd hoped, now we learn due to some injury issues! I hate this as much as you guys, but if we win, Kasey is gonna have to have another record breaking peformance! I would guess it is gonna be close, but they are #1 and THEY know it! Advantage, Katrina Vickdums!"

There ya go.

impressive. a short week win on the road vs. a preseason consensus superbowl pick will be a stand up and take notice statement that cannot be avoided any longer.

I'm sure that not all the posters were as generous with their praise and assessment of the Saints as this selection was. I am somewhat surprised that they seem to have a consensus that Payton is the primary motivator of the wins, which is a good reinforcer for the team. If everyone outside the organization and fan base think the coach is really good and responsible for the turnaround, then our players can't help but fall lock step into that same belief. Drink the Kool-Aid chaps, heaven's under a white dome.

The above quotes are a fair representation. If the Panthers weren't struggling, it might be a different story. And could change later in the season. Like Delmar said to Everett - "That's not the tune you were singin' back there at the gallows".
