Payton on HBO
So, I just watched the highlights on HBO and they had some really good sideline footage from the game.
At one point, Payton comes over to a group of guys and says (paraphrasing). "We've gotta bury them. We've got them on the f$%king edge of the diving board and it's time to f&*king push them off." That's pretty much what he said, and yes, he dropped 2 f bombs. Made me wanna put on a freaking helmet. They also showed him talking details of the handoff before the reverse play with bush. And then they showed him smiling at Devery and slapping a five. I'm really trying not to get carried away with this guy. But, good God. He works the sideline like a maniac, but not in a Haz kinda way. There is a control and composure mixed in with the fire. Haz reminded me of myself during Saints games. (Considering that I'm drunk and screaming, that is not a compliment.) Dude looks like a no BS, real NFL coach. Even when the Haz teams were doing well, there was a recklessness and a sense that it could fall apart at any minute. We now look like one of the more disciplined and composed teams in the league. One great example that I commented on during the game and he mentioned at the press conference was after the blocked FG. We didn't go into a silly hail mary offense. We worked the ball slowly up the field, getting out of bounds and feeling out the drive. He made sure not to give the Falcons a chance to go in with ANY momentum. When it became apparent that we could get points, we used our TOs and Carney hit the long kick. It was a flawless piece of football that recognized the momentum and protected it accordingly. Anyway, if you have HBO, try to catch the footage. They didn't really spend any time on the fact that they all picked Atl going away. Keep sleepin. 2 wins versus bad teams, 1 emotional win, i'm sure if we win at Carolina it will be something else. Rookie QB if we beat Tampa. As long as we look up and have about 10 of em when the smoke clears, I don't care what anyone says |

Hey everybody....It feels great to be posting again...I was out of commission for a couple of weeks after contracting West Nile Virus...The win Monday night was the final pick me up I needed before going back to work....looking forward to watching a Sunday game not in a hospital bed....Nurses got pissed when I yelled and screamed at the television with fever of 104 and Meningitis induced pounding headaches....I do not recommend getting this disease by the way or attempting to watch a game with it....
New Moto: Where your insect repellant.... Fellas its worth it if it keeps that one diseased mosquito off you....A rash covering 90% of your body, Menengitis, 104 temperature, non stop vomiting and nausea, no sleep for days, spinal taps, IV sticks everyday, and arterial lines to replace blown out IV from all the high powered drugs trying to head off the encephalitis that will swell your brain into retardation and death is just not the way you want to spend the opening 3 weeks of a football season....Did I mention I had to give my 4th row 50 yard line tickets to LSU vs. Arizona to my nephew.....AAARRRGGHH... |
