RE: Anyone surprised by this loss?

I agree. While I think the game was still winnable, the team played relatively well and both sides of the ball put up a very good effort. I'm still highly encouraged by what I see.

the loss aside, i am very impressed with the defense.......
fox took advantage of us, but i was still impressed......
not all teams have a good running game and qb combined.
these are the growing pains and i can except them......
i look forward to tampa bay.............smitty

Hard to come to terms with that. But you are probably right.

FACT: These are NEW New Orleans Saints.
FACT: We are 3-1, as good as anybody predicted
FACT: We are so superior compared to recent years it is unimaginable
FACT: We have HOPE, for logical reasons and not for any dreamy fantasies.

So the Saints will take this one, and learn. Go forward and look to bust TB next week.

I still feel hurt though.......................................

Not surprised. Best part about cheering for an NFL team is unlike college football, all crows come home to roost and loosing one game doesn't end a season.

As for the D, we lost for one reason, we could not stop the run at the end of the game.

Otherwise, we're still in first place due to head to head competition with the Fal-coons, and I'll take a loss when we play to win and have a chance anyday.

I'm not surprised by the loss because Carolina is a very good team with very good players and very good coaches. I'm dissapointed that the Saints lost, but I'm satisfied by the overall performance.

I am surprised... We out played Carolina on both sides of the football. Just made two mistakes that killed us.
We're better than you give credit

I'm not surprised we lost the game, disappointed yes but very happy with what I'm seeing with this Saints team on both sides of the ball, we have done a great job against the run until today, the Panthers ran the ball up out throat but I look for us to get back to a good run defense next week.
The fumble by Bush really hurt too, if not for the fumble we have a good chance in scoring a TD but it happens especially to rookie which we all know Bush it, Bush will come around.
3-1, I'll take that at the start of every season, a lot of team in the NFL only wished they were 3-1 right now, 49'ers, Bucs, Lions, Texans and so on.
I strongly believe we'll be 4-1 next week after beating the Bucs.

Rest In Peace JoeSam, thanks for everything my friend.

I have to agree that this was a loss that was bearable simply because we showed up on all aspects of the game. A couple of mistakes overcome and we could have won it. Brees played well, the WR's were very good, and even the defense played their butts off. Carolina is no push over and their backs were against the wall at home. Credit to them for coming out with an A game as well on both sides of the ball.

Who's to say how the outcome changes if we had challenged Keyshawn's 3rd and long catch that set up Steve Smith's TD, or if we had made that FG before the end of the 1st half. It was a good game. Perhaps the loss allows the team to re-focus and come back with an even more solid performance versus Tampa to maintain the division lead. The Philly game going into the bye opens the doors for the toughest stretch of our schedule....
