this is a discussion within the Saints Community Forum; Sorry, but 4-1 is nothing to sneeze at, especially after the nightmare last year. If you wanna get pessimistic, that's fine, but you have to understand that all that matters is the W....

RE: Re: RE: Not very impressed with the saints
well i remember years of the past saying what coulda been. what shoulda been. what call loss us the game. what call was missed that cost us the game. how if we didn't make this mistake or do this our record would be a positive one. what i learned from all of those years was no one cares how much you win by, how you win, or why you win. in the end the only thing anyone cares about is did you win. we have won 4 games out of 5. we are close to how many win si thought we would have for the season. are we one of the elite teams this year, probably not. we are in first place in our division and 2-1 in our division. we have made big strides in a season where i did not think we would be as good as we are. we can only get better because we have a lot of young guys on this team. so think about that. it can only get better. we are on our way. it may not come this year but we are playing tough and we loom like a better team. mind you one more time it will only get better. so don't be impressed no shirt off my back. we are 4-1 though and that is the only number that matters right now. congrats to the team and payton and trhe fans.

Last year and year's previous, the Saints would've found ways to lose. This year they are finding ways to win. This is definitely isn't your father's Saints.

How many time in the history of this team have they been 4-1?
Enjoy 4-1. No win in this league is easy. Just ask the 0-4 Bucs. |

Some people are so jaded that they can't even enjoy the success when we have it. As it has been stated in this post...enjoy the wins....sheesh. What are you waiting for? Are some people holding out until we are a dynasty team like the Patriots or consistently good like the Colts? It ain't gonna happen. We have a year or two before these buffons in the FO foul stuff up. And who knows what they will plan to do with our team at the first sign of a non-sellout season. Just enjoy the season and stop waiting for a perfect, totally dominant Saints team because it most likely won't happen.
This is the NFL and 4-1 is tough to start off with(especially winning the first two on the road). We've heard NFL players like Brett Farve say this in the past week yet some fans here still take our record for granted. |

Well look at it this way. At least our one lost was close. So at least from that stand-point we're steady.

haha .... there`s one in every crowd ..... If Saints were 13-3 somebody would be saying the Saints are over-rated playing on "Katrina recovery" hype, and next year Saints will be back to same ole same ole.
...... and besides that, Saints SHUTDOWN one the most explosive offenses in the NFL. Have you noticed how the national sports' talkingheads are not mentioning Michael Vick every 3 words lately? .... and not only that, NFL teams are not ranked by polls where you get ranking points for "blowing out" another team. It`s all about W`s & L`s here. |

i understand where you guys are coming from but ITS ONLY WEEK 5!!!!! believe me its very refreshing to see the saints not being the saints, but I still see major weaknesses (drop passes, leaky defense, bad red zone offense) on the team that the elite teams in the nfl WILL exploit. i don't know if anyone looked at the schedule but we paly the eagles, ravens, cowboys bengals. if we beat half those teams, then i konw we're for real....i give props to the saints for stepping up, but i don't consider a 4-1 start as a successful season...and please don't reply with "oh its a successful season cuz the saints are back in New Orleans" line...i'm tired hearing that Katrina hype.
