T-R, I think that I can come up with something a bit more scathing. This jerkwad's site gets a lot of hits, and the one thing I can't stand is for ignorance to be perpetrated then ignored by those who are informed. Crap like this can snowball. It starts with "don't care about the Saints" and transcends into "New Orleans shouldn't get help to rebuild." These people are political activists at the core, and diverting money away from worthy causes into their pockets is the root of their being. But they need the blind obeisance of their followers to do that.

This grassroots organisation relies on getting key "non-political" opinion leaders in communities to lead a wave of protest through to their elected officials. In this day of polling to determine an elected official's position, if an organisation like this creates enough pull to create a voice in one direction, then the elected leaders will heed the polls. Articles like this rely on the readers' inability to create a policy logic for themselves - by hitting buzzwords and fallaciously linking various positive and negative concepts, they can sway the gullible to have a negative opinion. At stake currently is the Congressional approval of about $70 Billion in aid for the gulf coast for rebuilding. Articles like this seek to negatively influence public opinion away from spending money on the worthy cause of rebuilding, toward other non-critical projects for which these activists have interests.

One must zealously protect against the sleazy and manipulative.

I wrote this...

You totally missed the point.
Its not who matters more... who is more important.
The people of New Orleans have rallied around what
they have always hold dear to there culture. The
Saints are New Orleans. The poor of New Orleans was
hit the hardest and treated horrible by our own
government. The Saints have been far from a winning
team... if something great happens and takes there
minds off of the problems they face everyday trying to
rebuild SO WHAT. If other people root for them... SO
WHAT. All you have done is made more people want to
root against the Yankees.

F- the Yankees.

He responded

Great. So root for the Saints. I never said you
shouldn't.

First off, as the only saints/yankees fan on the planet I'd like to say that not all us yankee fans are as ignorant as this guy. It's people like him that give us a bad name but thats for another topic. I just want to applaud jrm on a great letter to this guy. The only reason he won't respond to you jrm is because your letter actually makes sense and is way to intelligent for this guy.
