A question about the draft
Always a man looking toward the future of the saints, I understand that we have a few extra picks this upcoming year in the draft. Can someone please enlighten me on what extra picks we have in this upcoming draft?

RE: A question about the draft
It will be fun having enough picks to maybe move up and not have to go down like last year. Even if we did drop in the draft. i have to believe peyton will do the right thing, He shock alot of us in this years draft.
do not forget we have alot of players on one year deals and dumped alot of cap money through trades and cuts to make the FA a fun time also. |

RE: A question about the draft
that's why i feel next year we'll be very, very scary.... another offseason with this new regime and we can really start booking tickets and hotel rooms, b/c the super bowl will be a very real possiblity for this team.... my concern for next year is will we play with the excitement, determination, and momentum that we're playing with this year? this year, while it can't account for all the wins, we have the katrina thing that we're sorta feeding off of.... next year, will they still use that as motivation, or will that fire to prove how far they've come dissipate? we shall see....

Was looking at the following info, yesterday: 2005 Draft 1st - Jammal Brown - starter 2nd - Josh Bullocks - starter 3rd - Alfred Fincher - reserve 2004 Draft 1st - Will Smith - starter 2nd - Devery Henderson - reserve 5th - Rodney Leisle - reserve 5th - Mike Karney - starter This is where it gets ugly.... 2003 Draft 2nd - Jon Stinchcomb - starter 4th - Montrae Holland - reserve 2002 Draft 1st - Charles Grant - starter 2001 Draft 1st - Deuce McAllister - starter prior to 2001 No active players on the roster. Roughly 20% of our roster was acquired in the draft, 13% of which are now starting. Because of recent changes in the coaching staff, there has been a high turnover of players this past offseason. However, consider this... 2004 6th round selection Jason Jefferson is now with the Bills 2003 7th round selection Colby Bockwoldt is now with the Titans 2002 1st round selection Donte Stallworth is now with the Eagles 2002 2nd round selection LeCharles Bentley is now with the Browns 2002 6th round selection John Gilmore is now with the Bears 2001 3rd round selection Sedrick Hodge is now with the Dolphins 2001 4th round selection Moran Norris is now with the 49ers 50% of our selections over from 2001-2005 are still active in the league. So that's... 20% of the roster aquired in the draft (13% starting) 50% of the players selected are still in the league Compared to our division rivals Carolina Panthers 34% of the roster aquired in the draft (19% starting) 61% of the players selected are still in the league Atlanta Falcons 26% of the roster aquired in the draft (9.5% starting) 54% of the players selected are still in the league Tampa Bay Buccaneers 28% of the roster aquired in the draft (15% starting) 55% of the players selected are still in the league And for quality control, we can look at the Pro-Bowl selections for players selected in the 2001-2005 NFL drafts. New Orleans Saints: 4 selections Carolina Panthers: 5 selections Atlanta Falcons: 7 selections Tampa Bay Buccs: 0 selections |
The waiting drove me mad....
I don't want to hear from those that know... Everything has changed, absolutely nothing's changed Eddie is a....draftnik? |

RE: A question about the draft
We should also be getting compensatory picks from losing Bentley and Howard to FA.
