this is the first game i'll say payton made a mistake, 31-24
fourth and six i think on the pittsburg 39 and he kicks, down 31-24.......why?
a touchback gives them the ball at the 20, a 19 yd advantage anyway i see it. another 70 yd plus run.............. go for it there, enough time, and, they are dangerous as proved............. this one is wrong.............smitty win or lose, there is 8 minutes left, it was not a good dicision imo.................. |

Biggest mistake, IMHO, was not putting Devery in more.

there were plenty of mistakes made on both sides of the ball... can't believe willie parker carved us up like a thanksgiving turkey... he had a playstation-esque type of day.... we all knew they were a good team and that if they didn't kill themselves they'd be tough to beat..... this one doesn't disappoint me as much as the baltimore game, which was a game that we were the better team and should have won...

well, euphoria, that's stating the obvious, but even more we were exposed for what we are.... we tend to become one dimensional and we don't finish out games..... when we came back and then took the lead, we should have nailed the coffin shut, but turnovers and an inept defense didn't allow that to happen... pittsburgh is much better than their record indicates, and they didn't make the same mistakes that they have all season, which is why they have the record they do... we have to go back to the drawing board and get ready for the bengals, and hope for help along the way now....

Smitty,
IMO i wouldn`t call that decision a "mistake". I`d call it a gamble that didn`t go Saints way. On that punt you are referring to, the special teams nearly put that ball on the 1yd line.... that could have totally changed the outcome. I thought it was a worthy gamble given we were only down by a touchdown with what? 8 minutes left? thats alot of time if we could have nailed them down near the goal line. |

there is no one out there in their right mind that wants payton to be totally conservative when you feel he can put the nail in the coffin.............i'm dying screaming at the tube sometimes....this game was stolen and we are still probably the most complete team in the nfl/afl to deal with barr none....i have not lost faith, on the contrary, i have gained momentum.... it's gonna be a thrilling 2nd half so don't go away..............smitty |

I said it before the game: "We have to contain Willie Parker!" Well.....we didn't. Our corners looked confused as hell in run support. They can't cover worth a damn either & that scares me going into the Cincinnatti game. They are loaded at WR! Other than that, turnovers were the main thing that worried me. You can't win ball games when you're turning the ball over. Deuce needs more carries compared to Reggie.....and can we please see Strief at LT instead of Brown. This dude is killing us with dumb penalties! The D-line looked solid(especially Grant). LB's played decent. The offense was stellar as usual. Brees is definately in the running for league MVP. Colston.....well, you guys know what I think of the man-child. Anyway......that's my take on what I saw this weekend, positive & negative.
