I\'m seriously thinking that the Saints will stand pat after the acquisition of Rodgers. I believe the team fells they\'ve done enough to improve the team and are happy with what they\'ve accomplished. I would be extremely surprised if the Saints actually made a move now. The only possible scenario I would see is if Grady Jackson is cut, then they may go after McGlockton. We can only sit back, watch, and wait.

I agree. I think the Saints are pretty well done making any big moves as far as key positions or impact players. Grady could be cut (eaterys tremble at the thought) and another, experienced DT could be signed to a 1 year deal, but not much else IMO.
Getting Rodgers filled out our depth chart pretty well. We are set and ready. Now lets see who steps up. I like what Haz and Loomis have done. Built a solid, fast, young team for serious competition this year, but kept enough room to take advantage of next years draft and FA crop. |

About the only move I see the Saints making now is cuting Jackson, since I do not see him losing the weight and keeping it off. That said, I hope they pick up a veteran (i.e. McGlockton) for a year for experience. If they pick up anyone else, it will be for a bargain basement price and then it will have to be worth the price. I think the FO has done a great job improving the team for next year. Now it is up to the players to live up to what they have.

I\'ve seen quite a few references to McGlockton this offseason - WhoDat, etc. I know that we\'re thin at DT. What has me curios is that Dr. Z. (SI) has a such low opinion of McGlockton (to say the least). And I usually trust his opinion.
So - what is the knock on him? Why would Dr. Z. bash him so often? There must be something. [Edited on 1/6/2003 by LordOfEntropy] |

I\'m not so sure we will get Grady out of here, we need help in the middle still and he is better than anyone out there and anyone likely to be out there. His attitude has been crappy and he definitly needs to get in shape but we should\'nt give up on him yet. If he can get it together he can be dominate.
How about Thomas Jones, the Cards sure don\'t need him now and I doub\'t anyone will trade for him at this point. He could be available by monday ,I know the club is high on Keaton but it would be nice to see some competition behind Deuce. This is not a June first issue but Victor Green would give us some nice depth at the safety position. I pray for another LB but it does not seem probable anyone will be there. |

I honestly think there are 10-12 people on this forum that know more about football than that loser, including you LoE. But: I hold grudges for way too long, (Still pissed at Rickey Jackson for signing with the 49\'ers) [Edited on 1/6/2003 by tweeky] |

McGlockton has been a free agent since February. Why should the Saints sign him NOW? So he misses some of the early camps and has a harder time learning the defense? Just doesn\'t make sense to me.
Keep Grady for one more season, he can teach Sullivan some things (prefarably not recipes) and still be valuable as the third DT. He probably is overpaid at that position, but what the heck. If they are under the cap, they are under the cap. A solid backup RB wouldn\'t be bad, I\'m thinking more a power back than a finesse runner. |

How about cutting someone in the TE position? Some people think Boo Wiliams should go but I think he made several touchdown grabs for us while inside the red zone. I\'m not too hot on Sloan. Anyone have any info on Mr. Butterfingers?

Dr Z had us ranked right last year. We sucked. Blew it. Call it what you will. Preseason rankings means squat anyhow. 31st, 16th, 23rd, 4th, what\'s the difference? You either are #1 at the end or you\'re not. If you\'re not #1 then 2 thru 31 is what...ummm a draft position.
How anyone can be pissed at Rickey for going after a ring is beyond me. He saw the writing on the wall. He gave everything to this team. The guy was in his last few years. He knew the Saints weren\'t going to get the chance to help him get a SB ring. So he went to a team that would. Anyone pissed at him for that is just wrong. |
Dean Vernon Wormer: Mr. Hoover, president of Delta house? One point six; four C's and an F. A fine example you set! Daniel Simpson Day... HAS no grade point average. All courses incomplete. Mr. Blu - MR. BLUTARSKY... ZERO POINT ZERO.
John 'Bluto' Blutarsky: Christ. Seven years of college down the drain. Might as well join the f@$%ing Peace Corps. |
