No need to do the research. I\'ll admit they probably were questioning his leadership in his early years.

I\'m just saying that questioning Aaron\'s leadership based on stats doesn\'t render good results b/c a good leader can have bad years and bad games. (example: Elway) Nobody questioned Elway\'s leadership in the 90\'s when he went 5-11.

Aaron is really in a catch 22 on this subject because a lot of critics would say: Look how cool he is before the game. He is so laid back and ready to go. Then when things don\'t go right people say: He\'s not intense. He doesn\'t have that desire to win.

It\'s all about perspective and this year it\'s negative because we didn\'t make the playoffs. Had a couple of TE\'s and a WR or 2 played up to form, we\'d have made the playoffs and Aaron would be a hero now because of playing hurt and through the pain. Instead, you get a team that spent the entire 2002 season not playing at their best level against sorry teams which causes the them to miss the playoffs and suddenly Aaron\'s not the leader we need.

ScottyRo,

I too agree that stats are not the only indicator of a leader. True leaders have supreme faith in their ability and know they have what it takes, not matter what the situation might be.

Great leaders are always in doubt in the early going, simply because of the fact they have not proved themselves yet.

That\'s why leaders that give people a chance to be leaders know it\'s a work and progress and give them time to show that they are indeed a leader.

I have said the same thing over and over about Brooks. Some feel he is the 2nd coming great, others not. Billy looking at the number of posts you have in less than one month,is it possible that we are not getting all of the quality out of you we could?

I own an electronics company and nope not yet...I\'ve just had a little time to kill lately. Beleve me, you won\'t see me on here nearly as much........starting tomorrow..as a matter a fact--------i won\'t be on here any tomorrow.

What electronics company? I have a few contacts in the industry.

BillyCarpenter1 06-17-2003 04:54 PM

Aaron Brooks

Our company is a sales and service center for Kyocera Mita. Copiers, faxes, scanners..etc... It\'s called Digital Office Solutions.

BlackandBlue 06-17-2003 07:19 PM

Aaron Brooks

Ahhh, gotcha. I\'m familiar with Kyocera mita, but never sold their stuff. Copiers and faxes have never been our thing, but we do a ton of other electronics, mostly education solutions.

BillyCarpenter1 06-17-2003 07:22 PM

Aaron Brooks

That\'s intresting. What kind of electronics and educational solutions do you provide?

BlackandBlue 06-17-2003 07:31 PM

Aaron Brooks

No boundaries. We do everything from server farms (that we house on our location) to HP office solutions to Philips classroom solutions. If a school district puts it out for bid, we\'re there, along with Dell, Compaq, and Gateway, but we are hiding in the background doing whatever we have to, in order to get the business.
Where is your base of operations?

BillyCarpenter1 06-17-2003 07:45 PM

Aaron Brooks

Copiers are our bread and butter. Now 90% of our copiers are connnected on networks and used as scanners, faxes, and printers, We sell to a wide variety of accounts, such as local government, national accouts, schools, and everything else. We also accept bids from major accouts as well. The competiton is brutal these days. I see you are into HP solutions, dirty word around here..........they are the evil empire, to us anyway. All of our accounts are under service contacts and we service them on location.

BlackandBlue 06-17-2003 08:06 PM

Aaron Brooks

Heh, we hate HP as much as you, especially now after the merger with Compaq, but none of the sales reps (including myself) have the marbles to present another solution to our customers.

BillyCarpenter1 06-17-2003 08:17 PM

Aaron Brooks

You asked where are base of operation is. It\'s on the Mississippi Gulf Coast...Gulfport/Biloxi....and your\'s?

BlackandBlue 06-17-2003 08:30 PM

LOL GM :D
And it wasn\'t me- posting off topic doesn\'t bother me, unless it\'s in the midst of an argument.
Our base of operations is Dallas.

Gator,

If you ever have a few of your buddies over try turning a bar stool upside down and all four of you will have a place to sit. Yes, one leg of the bar stool for each of you.

I missed this thread like an old friend, so I had to bump it. This was about as entertaining as midget punting, and that\'s pretty tough to beat.

BillyCarpenter1 08-06-2003 04:23 PM

Midget punting huh? The only problem was I was the midget on this thread. Now take this thread back where you got it.

Funny thing. this was back when you first started posting, like you had to prove something. I swear, you got into it with me, WhoDat, Gator, and I can\'t remember who else...in this one single thread. Was like we were taking turns knocking you around :P

See, the one thing that gets to all the AB fans are the facts. Talk about potential all you want. He ain\'t there yet. It\'s prediction and speculation.

Yes, he was the QB in our one playoff win. I give credit to the defense who punched the Rams in the face that game. He didn\'t get us to that game, he just picked up where Blake left off.

He has had two seasons since then to be the one to bring us to the playoffs. He has used those opportunities to bring us to the point where it would take a cataclysm to keep us out of the playoffs, and then helped bring us the cataclysm.

He is NOT a great QB until he PROVES he is a great QB. If you consider his greatness proven already your a dreamer. Yes, he has had 2 back to back 3500 yard seasons. Kerry Collins had 4000 yards last season and the Giants got into the playoffs because our \"great\" quarterback with all the potential couldn\'t beat the Bengals.

Don\'t show me numbers. Football isn\'t played on paper. Don\'t tell me about potential. Ricky Williams had potential, fat lot of good that did us. Don\'t tell me about a playoff victory until he can get us there himself. Tell me about great when we get to the NFC Championship game.

Funny thing about that play off win for Brooks .

If memory serves me well , Brooks stalled out the last 2 series and let the Rams back in and I am still waiting for the Saints to mount Hakims jersey on one of the walls for giving us that game .......

The question should not be is or will Aaron Brooks be an elite QB ? He definitely has
the tools (arm strength, accuracy, confidence, read defense(?)). Teams have won a
super bowl with far less talent at QB, Brad Johnson(Tampa), Doug Williams(Washington), Jeff Hosteler(Giants). Brooks will only be as good as his supporting cast.
Veteran line, All-pro back and reciever(s) IMO is enough to win at least one SB depending on how well the [b:9c20fdc08f] DEFENSE plays[/b:9c20fdc08f]. DEFENSE !!! DEFENSE!!! Brooks is talented, but cannot win a game on his own (ala Vick).

Will any of the following NFC QBs post better #s in 2003 than AB?

Garcia
Vick
Warner
Johnson
Collins
McNabb

I am certain thatk all won\'t, and possibly none will.

With all the criticism, whining, complaining or whatever you want to call it, we all must have forgotten Billy Joe Tolliver and Hobert. We have come a long way in QBs. Yes, Brooks makes mistakes but so did Brett Favre. Favre even a few years ago would make questionable gametime decisions but it\'s all about what have you done for me lately. For a city who hasn\'t fielded a talented complete team for 20+ years, we are awfully critical.
