I think we'll string 4 together. Dallas will be hard, but we can take them. With the Eagles going down quickly, the Cowgirls'll probably pretty much lock up a playoff spot before we roll into town. So they'll probably lay down. But San Fran & Washington'll be trap games. No more old Saints. Gotta win the easy games.

Great win today, we finally get that 7th win!!!!!!!
I was generally happy with the overall performance of the team today. The defence played well and made some key plays.
Brees racked up another 350yds passing and this time we WON the game, YEAH!!!! A couple of negative points in the game was the lack of offensive production in the 3rd quarter and the fact that we didn't seem to be able to stop Vick scrambling, he got 166yds, most running backs in the NFL would be pleased to get that yardage. Anyway we are 7-4 and the Saints are back to winning ways!!!!! GREAT TEAM AND A GREAT WIN!!!! GEAUX SAINTS GEAUX!!!!! |

one down, 5 to go. Gotta have the attitude that each game is not only winnable, but the will to stomp on their necks is the most important thing.

Gore is someone that the Saints need to worry about, he's a strong runner who runs well up the middle, the 49'ers aren't very good but has improved slightly over the last few games, but if the Saints play well they shouldn't have a problem beating in them.
With the Panthers losing today the Saints chances in making the playoffs and winning the NFC South went up... We won today without Colston, that was huge, now that Brees has confident in Henderson he now has 3 WR's who he can count on (Colston, Horn and Dev), if the Saints can improve their running game I see them having a very good season, who knows, 10-6 maybe.. Huge win today and they know it.. I'll be a Falcon fan when they play the Panthers later on.. |
Rest In Peace JoeSam, thanks for everything my friend.

RE: Great win today, we finally get that 7th win!!!!!!!
We need to take care of business next weekend. One of the signs that this team is mentally tougher, IMO, is the fact that we beat the teams we're supposed to: GB, Cleveland, TB (2X). The old Saints were never like that. We'd go out and play well against one of the better teams in the league, and then choke against the Bungles or somebody like that. We need to go in there next week and be all business. No nonsense, no looking past them. Just stick to the gameplan, and when we get a chance to step on their throats, do it mercilessly.
A few observations from the game, because this week I actually got to see it: 1. I loved the balance of our offense in the first quarter. Long strike to Devery, pounded it with Deuce and he ripped off a long gain (with a personal foul tacked on the end). Did a good job mixing it up early, and we were rewarded with 14 points. 2. I disagreed with the play calling immensely in the second quarter and the third quarter. We stopped mixing it up as well. Our intermediate-long range passing game completely disappeared. I could have sworn we ran the same little dump pass five times in a row during one stretch. I did like that we never abandoned giving Deuce the rock, but the passing game switched from short/intermediate/long passes to strictly short passes. We stagnated, like we've done several times this season. I know it's unreasonable to expect good results every game, but we had a chance at 21-6 to put the nail in the coffin in the 3rd quarter, and we didn't do it, we let them back in. 3. Devery Henderson needs more playing time. 4. I love Charles Grant. Yes he got beat to the edge by Vick several times, but he never gave up and came up with a huge sack. Will Smith is also a beast, and I'm glad he kicked Father Time's butt up and down the field. 5. Said it before, and I'll say it again. Good things happen when you give Deuce the ball. Yes, his average was not that impressive today, but he ripped off a couple big plays and got 2 touchdowns. For whatever reason, good things happen when you can pound it with Deuce. He's deadly around the goalline, and he really really really opens up the passing game. 6. The defense got burned by Vick, but the good news is that we won't face another QB like that for the rest of the year. What was EVEN BETTER NEWS was that we absolutely shut down Dunn and Norwood. That was a good sign to see our rush defense stop their RBs. 7. Brees played very smart football today. Only one bad pass that almost got picked. If he can play like that every week, it'll be tough to stop this team. 8. Mike Karney's block on Deuce's first touchdown run was absolutely NASTY. He stopped three guys on one play. That man is a beast. |

God, I love it when someone in low places at the networks thinks the Saints are legit. Got to watch the whole hootin' hollerin' shootin match because Philly' on late due to the networks option to switch. Sometimes I think living in Jersey sucks, but not right now.
Someone teach our linemen/linebackers how to take angles at someone faster than them. |

it's a strangely great feeling that we have a premier QB with an almost bottomless pool of receiving talent. If our defense can rise to the occasion like they did to day to pevent scores at opportune times we can go deep ino the playoffs. I realize statistically ATL kicked our asses and the TOP favored ATL heavily but they came up short repeatedly on their home turf. Way to go, Saints.
