Saints NFC South Division Winners!!!
Why am I not happier about this? I mean, damn. Today was supposed to be the day we all came in here posting our joys, and triumphs, and just slapping each other with high fives. Now it's just like, yay, we won the division.
I am going to say this: We beat the hell out of the Cowboys last week, and they came back to destroy the Falcons in Atlanta. Maybe we can call this a good loss, in the respect that the team knows now, NOT to take any team for granted. Gibbs is fighting to keep his job one more year, so of course this is a big win for him. Another positive, is that we played like absolute shiznit, and were still in the game, all the way till the end. While also giving up 112 yards rushing to Betts. The bend don't break defense, took the "stretch armstrong" approach once again, and only gave up 16 points, when it should have been ALOT more. At least we stunk as a team today. Every aspect of our game sucked, so there's really no one person to blame I guess. We should just be happy we won the division, and forget about this hiccup. I don't know why I'm having such a hard time doing that. |

Dude, that's the best avatar on the site right now. I laugh everytime I read your posts.
I was at the game and it was the most boring game of the year. It was losing in slow motion and just seemed like we were walking through the paces. That's just how it looked from a fans perspective. I did eat 4 dome dogs today. |

NFC South Champs, I'll continue to remind myself of this all week, the only thing that will get me through to the next game.

Ok, it's Monday morning, and the worst of my tyrade about yesterday's game is over. Now, I am going to enjoy the feeling of being the Champs. I still want that second seed. I think really what happened was more shock factor for me. This game was the last one I thought we would lose, of the few remaining, so I apologize to everyone for losing my head.
I'm going to miss the Giants game this Sunday, as I will be in a plane all day, making the trip home for Christmas. My parents live in a rural area, so I won't be on here too much in the next two weeks, as they have yet to get DSL. Anyway, I'm going to talk alot until then. : ) |

If we couldn't get motivated yesterday to finish it out, that's a very bad sign...not a hiccup. Washington showed every team we play for the rest of the year how to beat us...a very bad sign. So what "win or lose we win division." That's no reason to play like drunks. If we'd have won, Payton could rest some palyers for the playoffs and give the young guys more PT. Now that we played like the Saints we're all used to, Payton is forced to keep playing everyone becuase they played so bad and risk a critical injury. We screwed ourselves on so many levels yesterday it's not even funny.

Oh really? Well then Carolina showed the league how to beat the Saints in week 4...and so did Baltimore and Cincy. PLEASE?!?!? What the Saints showed us yestarday is that this young team still has to learn a little about keeping their emotions in tact. They looked flat. I don't think we were out schemed just simply out played. We looked flat. Now I am not saying that the Cowboys game took everything out of our sails but hey.....you can't deny that game was huge. I don't care what the Redskins record is either. They still have a good team with lots of talent. And to top it off, with all the bad things that happened yestarday....WE ALMOST WON!!! So guys pleeez!! Lay off the team a little...I admit whole-heartedly that things did not look pretty. They need to learn how to keep their focus for 16 games. Remember some of our best and MOST productive players are ROOKIES that last year played a schedule that was approximately 11 weeks long. Regardless of what happens from here on out (even though I still think we will be just fine.) We finally have one thing the Saints have not had since the late 80's....a solid foundation for the future!!

I'm not saying that's going to happen again, but we should give it a couple of seasons, before we march Payton up and down Bourbon Street on our shoulders. Many coaches in history have gotten their teams to the play offs, and never did more than that. Look at Mike Martz. He took the Rams to the Super Bowl, lost, and was fired two seasons later. Now, I know you guys hate negative thinking, but you also have to keep yourself grounded in the fact, that one season, does not make a career. Payton is on the right track. I just hope he doesn't derail the way Haslett did. That's not negative thinking, that's being real. |
