Yeah.....gotta love that mighty 9-7 record of the Broncos, compared to the 8-8 packers. It would have been even better if the Giants had lost on Saturday, and Javon got to watch the Packers on Wild card weekend.

The funniest part is how he based it all on watching a pre-season game. You'd think someone who's been in the league now for a few years would know that you can't really tell squat from pre-season games. If we simply judged pre-season performances and records, the Raiders would probably be at least slightly above 500, and the Saints would be about 6-10!

Yep, the Packers got ot 8-8, but come on.
The packers ended the season with 4 wins. with victories against those Minnesota and Detroit power houses, and a Chicago team that didn't care and has Rex Grossman as a QB (which bodes REALLY well for an NFC championship in the Dome, but that's for another thread)

Denver, on the other hand, got done in by their own coach, yanking Jake out in the middle of a winning season. The Broncos were 7-4 when Plummer got replaced.

In any case, at the beginning of the season, Walker's comments were spot on.

I agree that Shanahan cost the Broncos this year. I don't care how bad Plummer was playing - he wasn't playing as bad as Grossman and Lovie stuck with him cuz they were winning. What Shanahan tell him? "I'm sorry but being three games above .500 as a starter for us just isn't good enough. We're going with the rookie."

Losing Kubiak hurt the Broncos. Their offense was off-track this year, and it wasn't all Jake's fault.

In response to the original question....

I'd still rather be on the Broncos than the Packers. The Broncos just had some growing pains with Cutler as their new QB. They have a brighter future than the Packers.

I'm with you on that. Funny thing is, they were actually 7-3, and it was being reported that the Thanksgiving Day game against the Chiefs (which wound up being the game that put them at 7-4) would be his last, EVEN BEFORE THE GAME STARTED. What kind of crap is that? Telling a guy "this is most likely gonna be your last game, but hey, try to win for us".

Plummer got screwed in that deal. Basically, Shanahan is saying "we can do better at QB" than a guy who led them to a 7-4 record before being benched, by putting in a guy who'd never taken an NFL snap. I guess everyone thinks they are going to stumble upon the next Big Ben-type of rookie.

Farve still should not have said anything about his contract.
