R.O.Y....ANGER!!!!!!!!!
I would have posted this outrage earlier, but i was busy. We all know Vince Young won the R.O.Y. award in a landslide, but , what the hell is wrong with these sports writers. Reggie Bush only received 3 votes, 3 GOT DAM VOTES, that is so unbelievable to me. Marques Colston received 9 votes, that in it's self is a tragedy. But there's noway in hell out of 50 voters only 3 thought that Reggie Bush deserve the award, i mean, did any of them even watch a Saints game this season, HELL NO! Young had some outstanding, awesome ass plays, but so did Reggie, Young's numbers were no where near eye popping; 51.5 pct. completions, 2199 yds, 12 td's, 13 int's, 66.7 QB rating. That's not that great by anyone's standards. Bush, Colston, and Maurice Jones-Drew had way better numbers than Young, even Leinarts numbers were a little better than Young's. I just hope the R.O.Y. don't turn out like the Pro Bowl, a popularity contest, rather than what a player accomplished the entire year. There's no other rookie that means as much to their playoff team than Reggie Bush, where would the Saints be without him when we lost Colston and Horn? I wish Reggie show all those backward ass writers where to stick their popularity votes when he run, catch, return, and pass his way through the NFC playoffs, straight to the Superbowl. By the way, you think those 3 lil measly votes piss Bush off? Ya bet your BLACK & GOLD loving a$$ it did. NFC SOUTH DIVISION CHAMPION SAINTS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

RE: R.O.Y....ANGER!!!!!!!!!
Didn't you realize that by Colston and Bush playing for the same team that they were going to take votes from each other? One would have had to have clearly have been deserving of rookie of the year to have won. Neither was clearly deserving. Colston would have been had he not have gotten injured, but that's just the way it goes. No big deal.

RE: R.O.Y....ANGER!!!!!!!!!
I feel the anger too blacksaint.... its not so much of Vince Young getting the title...it's the landslide of votes by which he got it. I mean c'mon you watch any sports show and everyone is arguing about it until they're blue in the face.... it has not been a landslide in opinion of NFL fans by no means. Also keep in mind we are upon one of the most superior draft of players in a pretty long time...
I think of it as hey... Give LT the League MVP and Give Young the ROY - We'll take the Lambardi trophy |

Dude, I feel your pain. You have to understand that these sports writers are always on the lookout for the next big hype. Now, don't get me wrong Young is talented and he did turn the Titans season around, but ROY....I don't think so. It did take Reggie a few games to find his groove and honestly, I don't think he is fully there yet. Colston missed three games and that's what killed him. If I had to pick one and it not be a Saint it would have been Jones-Drew.
Look at the hype they put around Vick and Owens. It's just who the sports writers can hype up. That's all. Soon everyone will know who the real ROY and MVP truly is. |

How would you explain voting for Bush? Part of Bush's success was due to Colston excelling. How could you vote Colston, since so much of his success was due to Bush? Now do you see MY point??? That is what I mean Both of them had great seasons, but Vince Young is the easier pick. Vince Young won games all by himself, and I wouldn't have been offended if he got all 50 votes. He deserved it. It's not as if the voters get together and say "Hey how many are you are voting for Vince Young? Well since you're voting for him I'll vote for Reggie Bush since we want to recongnize his accomplishments." They all cast their votes individually and picked who they felt had the best season. I would have voted for Vince Young too. That's not slighting what Reggie Bush or Marques Colston did. I think they were recognizing what a great rookie season Vince had. But they only have one vote. |

RE: Re: RE: R.O.Y....ANGER!!!!!!!!!
Heck, I'll chime in here on the topic...
V. Young, touches the ball on every possesion on offense, and did turn the season around for the Titans. M. Colston, started out magnificently, got injured, didn't make much noise when he came back. R. Bush, snookered all the opponents early on (Bass Pro shops shoulda made a bobblehead decoy of him back in September for the duck hunters), then figured out the pro game at the end. But my ROY vote would have gone to M. Jones-Drew, for the touches he gets, most productive of all. NOTE: not considering any defensive players, they just don't ever win the ROY award. |

RE: Re: RE: R.O.Y....ANGER!!!!!!!!!
?Question?... Why isn't anyone mentioning Devon Hester? I mean c'mon, 6 total punt/kickoff returns in his rookie season...thats never been done. Takin it to the house on special teams is one of the biggest momentum changes you can do in a game. I mean mabye not the ROY, but his name should for sure be in this conversation!! Am I wrong?
PS... my vote would be for Reggie Bush regardless - call me bias. |

the one stat you of youngs you didnt mention were the W's and thats all that counts. i agree with gold when he said colston and bush took votes from each other and if i had a vote it wouldve been for young. that team was nothing when he was on the bench, then he was put in as the starter (week 6 i believe) and led them to a chance at the playoffs in week 17. you cant ask anymore from a rookie at his position.
