My FA shopping list
Top FA shopping list
CB Nate Clements (U) Buffalo Bidding war and I do not think he is a Sean type of player. Sammuel should get the tag and after that there is a big drop off in talent or big jump in age. Cap casualties are our best option after these two in the FA market. Other than that bring back our FA and look to the draft. who knows a trade is not out of question. MLB Kawika Mitchell (U) Kansas City Can we out bid NE for his services. NE is high on him. besides it would release us from reaching on day one of the draft. He would be a key addition. WLB Adalius Thomas (U) Baltimore How sweet it would be. One less position to draft for. But the draft is deeper at OLB than MLB. LG Eric Steinbach, UFA, Cincinnati Bengals His natural position is LG but can play all three interior positions. A swing guard/center, talk about what the doctor ordered. So he would give you a back up to Faine who has an injury history. Then Nesbit (who just turned 30)can step back in as a starter at G. LG Derrick Dockery (U) Washington Probly the best LG out there and for years to come. Thank god Washinton has cap problems. After that most FA are about the same as ours. jurney men. Face it Nesbit just turned 30 and we need to look to the future at this position. A day one pick at G/T might be needed. DE/DT Cory Redding (U) Detroit I like this kid but so does Detroit. Flex is a good thing DT Ian Scott (U) Chicago may work well in rotation. had a terrible first half of 06. But what a second half C/G Andre Gurode (U) Dallas Sean knows him so let him deside. DE/DT Chris Kelsay (U) Buffalo Talk about steady. thats his middle name. He will probly retire a bill though. But you never know. DT Terdell Sands UFA Oakland Raiders - whats not to like at 6-7 335 out of Chattanooga. He maybe the sleeper of FA at DT. price maybe right to boot. I want hollis back too. As far as the TE go I am not as excited as most over Daniel Graham. his price per dropped pass is way to high. Eric Johnson is just to slow. SF has the right idea to have him as the top #2 TE. So sign Miller and draft one. I am not overly excited by the FA market so far this year. Cap cuts could bring out better talent. On the Joe Horn front I do not see any FA stepping in at the #1 spot. So does Closton step into that role and we move Henderson into the #2 spot? After last year I hope not. He needs to show better hands. So do we sign Kevin Curtis as an unproven #2 and trade Henderson during camp if he does not show better hands? How about drafting a WR say like Rice if he is there. Then you will have to make Closton happy with a new contract. I have no answers here. no matter what you do you have a mess. I say keep Horn |

So Hagan how do you feel on Floyd Womack (OG from Seattle) and Ben Utecht (TE from IND)?

<--- Big Kelsay fan. If Grant walks, he was my pick in free agency to replace him.

Floyd what can you say about a season vet at his level. not many compair but I think the Seahawks learned there lesson from last year. They will not let him go unless the groin injury is worse than thought.
Utechet would be a nice addition but I do not see him as an upgrade to the position from what we have now. I would take him over Miller at the same price. But at that price I see him staying with Indi. and Payton |

RE: My FA shopping list
Yeah, I like Floyd, especially because he can play all 5 O-line positions. He subs in for Waltrer during Training camp, start LG for a couple of games, and was their backup Center too.
Utecht I see us using him as a Dallas Clark type... can spread him out but also use as a TE. |

well, last year payton kinda cleaned house..........
this yr, i don't think he's exactly finished yet............... i expect at least one draft day trade sending a pick and getting a player and a pick..........and or, sending a player and a pick and getting a pick now or later depending who the saints sign and don't now and in fa......... hagan, now that you've got us to the superbowl with your wish list, can we repeat at least 3 times in the next 5 years and tie the patriots, while ousting da bears 2 outta 3 times for conference champs? (i'm turning my head to the side and coughing) if you really think about it, we were never expected to even be in the playoffs much less one game away from the superbowl..........while it was magical, i have to believe payton had the wand. now, i expect him to wave it a little more and go further....... i am not use to this winning................. i am use to drinking.........tell me again how these two tie in papz...... smitty |

But at that price I see him staying with Indi. and Payton How much of an upgrade is really needed? If Bush, Deuce, Horn, and Colston are healthy, the TE will never see the ball. I think a lot of TE's will look at the NO offense and figure they'd be lucky to get 25 catches. I'd rather see a Sean concentrate on keeping Grant & Horn and getting a shutdown CB, and back up, for that matter. |
