few more saints notes

Here is what i learned today:

Will Smith is not at all unhappy about Grant getting paid. In fact, it has become a joke amongst the d-linemen in the locker room. Smith knows his payday is coming and the ongoing joke is whether or not Grant left enough money for Smith. He is perfectly fine with Grant getting paid.

Since the draft, aaron Stecker has stopped showing up for OTA's. Not exactly the professional way to handle the team taking a RB in the draft but oh well.

There are a few O-lineman upset with some comments made by Andy Alleman. Upset enough to have Doug Marrone call Alleman up and tell him to shut his mouth.

Thats all i have for now. Peace.

It's all in the reflexes.

oh yeah smith is in for a big pay day soon enough. I had problems believing he was really that upset. He just does not seem to be that type.
Stecker is a bit of surprise. I thought he would have stepped up to the challange. But maybe this is why we drafted a RB. gotta wonder.
What did Alleman say? I have not read anything that would lead me to believe he has caused a problem. Did I miss something? Well what ever it is he will get a big dose of rookie hazing on and of the field during camp to keep him in check.

Just because he transferred doesn't mean he lacks loyalty. You think maybe lack of playing time had anything to do with it? He was recruited as a DT and maybe he just never fit there. There are TONS of college players that transfer after a year or two because of lack of playing time. Does that mean they're not loyal? Free agents switch teams all the time... does that mean they have no loyalty? From my point of view, I see it as putting yourself in a position to succeed.

Oh yea... did you know his hometown is Akron, Ohio? Maybe he wanted to be closer to his family and friends? After transferring he started 24 straight games at RG after switching positions. I have no problem having a mauling guard with a mean streak.

I dont know word for word what he said...but it was something along the lines of "...I am not going in there and do stupid rookie things for the offensive lineman."

"...I am not going in there to be anybody's b**ch"

"...I am not going down there to sit on the bench, i am going down there to take jobs."

Now those arent direct quotes, but what was said was very similar. Stinchcomb and Faine dont seem to be early fans of his. We shall see how this plays out.

I don't know what happened in high school for him to transfer (do you?) but I do not fault him for transferring back home in college. Hell I went to LSU for a year and transferred back to New Orleans. I must lack loyalty.

Those quotes could be a lot worse than that. To me they show fire on Alleman's part and a little pre-season posturing.

Uhh... if I were a rookie, I wouldn't want to be anyone's @#%^ either. If I were a rookie, I would want to come in there and take someone's job too. What rookie actually enjoys hazing? He's saying how he feels.

Quick let's all jump on the Alleman hate-wagon! Or not.

Those are things I want a rookie O-lineman to think, not say. I don't know that he said them so I am not going to condemn him for it, but he needs to be sure to be tactful when making these types of remarks.

He's a rookie after all and doesn't know what he's going to face.
